So, a little more than the Emirates, a little less than the Lane.
And not at the cost of Ā£1bn
I wonder where Away fans will fit in. Would they get shifted into the corner of the Kenny Dalglish stand, and our fans get given the whole new stand? or do they still get one of the bottom corners.
From what I understood reading about it in last years, initially it was said they would be kept on the bottom corner of the new Annie Road End stand, but on the opposite side (the ARE stand and SKD stand). But I think Pearce mentioned afterwards that they would remain where they are at the moment. Not sure anymore what is true or if this might still change. But youād expect them to remain at the bottom, we only have to see on which side.
Taken from the planning statement submitted to Liverpool City Council;
Para 3.1 - Ground floor will house an extended Lower Concourse for home and away supporters.
Second floor will accommodate the Upper Concourse with separate areas for home and away supporters; including measures to create flexible segregation arrangements to meet the larger ticket allocations for away team supporters in cup matches. The area will contain kiosks, washrooms/toilets, first aid facilities and vomitories to access the Upper Tier.
Para 3.30 - away fans enter via separate turnstiles on the standās northwest elevation.
Planning app reference is 20F/3090 should anyone else be interesting is seeing whatās been submitted. Bang that into the Liverpool City Council planning search page and youāll find it, along with loads of detail/images.
So going above 60k. Any mention of any need to improve transport infrastructure?
Can you post a link please? Struggling to find it.
I think Iāve found it!
Seeing as I still have it open, here it is verbatim;
3.38 The Club has prepared Transport Strategy documents for both Match Days and Events;*
they have been approved by Liverpool City Council. The Transport Strategies are ālive*
documentsā that are regularly monitored and reviewed by a Transport Working Group.
They support travel to and from the stadium on match and event days, with a focus on
supporting sustainable travel choices3.39 As part of this application, an updated Transport Strategy [Document E2/3] has been submitted to setting out the proposed measures to accommodate the additional match day capacity; details are summarised below:*
ā¢ Amendments to the existing sterile zone (road closures) around the stadium to improve pedestrian safety and provide greater capacity for supporters in the vicinity of the stadium;
ā¢ Relocate match day bus services and the existing taxi rank outside the amended āsterile zoneā;
ā¢ Relocate home coaches to St Domingoās car park, enabling away coaches to move from Arkles Lane to Priory Road which has less residential frontage.
*ā¢ Review public transport ticketing and queue management arrangements to improve boarding times through faster transaction and / or integrated ticketing, supporting efficiency in moving large numbers of supporters away from the area more quickly; *
ā¢ Increase capacity of scheduled bus services;
ā¢ Provide additional wayfinding to public transport facilities and audit existing signage;
ā¢ Review the operation of existing car parks to ensure those pre-booked facilities are being utilised as much as possible;
ā¢ Develop a business permit scheme to support management of vehicles through the sterile road closure areas and minimise disturbance of road closures to the local community;
ā¢ Provide a new cycle hub to offer supporters a high quality area to securely store their bicycles;
ā¢ Up-date and continue to invest in promoting the marketing strategy to encourage alternatives to the private car for travel to the stadium on match and event days;
ā¢ Promote further initiatives to increase dwell time at the stadium to support earlier arrival and later departure on match days;
ā¢ Implement a revised Staff Travel Plan to include a range of additional measures such as free bus travel for staff;
ā¢ Maintain the Transport Working Group and ensure that it continues to monitor the efficacy of the Football Match Residents Parking Zone (FMRPZ);
ā¢ Appoint a Stadium Travel Manager to manage the transport strategy and liaise directly with public transport, taxi operators and parking enforcement services in conjunction with the RLM on match and event days so that local residentās complaints can be actioned in āreal timeā
The planning officers/committee will need to consider if the development overcomes the policy requirements. The 60k was a finger in the air. Regardless of whether its 59,999 or 60,000, a transport assessment and strategy is required. Sounds like the club have been working well with the city council since the main stand.
Thank you for this. I could never find anything concrete that supported the claims we were limited to 60k without spending something like Ā£100m on improving the local transport infrastructure (talks of having to contribute towards a dedicated train line etc).
It will be interesting to see if these proposals are sufficient. Youād expect that they will receive approval from the local authority given how closely the club have been liaising with them already.
It will have been a councillor/member or a city mayor that stated a rail link or big improvements would be required - likely his/her opinion or views from local communities. But someoneās views, without evidence, is not enough to stop an application going through.
Planning takes a lot of consideration into amenity, the public realm, community, and improving a place through good design. Given the success of the main stand on all those fronts, and what the club/consultants/architects will have learnt from the planning process then, Iād expect this to sail through.
There may still be disgruntled neighbours or NIMBYs around Anfield, and its a major app, so will be going to Committee, where anything can happen. A refusal is slim, and would probably be appealed if the grounds were questionable, as often happens, with many overturns.
Given the low salary of a female player, another consideration has to be the cost of travelling across the river. I suppose they could log it as expenses but if players are living in the Wirral to be close to Solar Campus and Prenton Park then suddenly having to drive all the way to Kirkby and pay the toll fees is a significant change for them.
Anyone plan to bid on the relics and pieces of history from Melwood? I saw the massive collection that was shipped to the auction house in London.
Iām not telling you guys what Iām bidding on bc I donāt want the prices driven up!
I see that the club has listened to local residents and has decided not to permanently close off the section of Anfield Road thatās behind the ground. The road will be re-routed around ARD and will only be closed on match and event days.
Seems like a sensible solution.
Only seen this here. I might have a bid on JĆ¼rgens worn match day jacket.
Or the Stevie G signed jersey
Itās been a year
I miss it so much
I would have spent hours in thereā¦
