Lots of egg on the faces of not a few journos. Loads of scrambling around to show how unexpected this was or simply ignoring what theyâve been blasting around not that long ago.
Thatâs the standard of journalism these days. They donât investigate, they read out official statements without comment.
Slot was always going to be judged after the honeymoon of his first full season. He was found wanting after that.
And thereâs no reason to extend the stay once the confidence is going.
Slot looked at ease during his first season but so do most managers when the going is good for them.
Now that itâs happened, it just feels sad. Hasnât lifted the spirits much or increased the optimism for next season. We donât look like a club that is in charge of itâs own destiny.
Waiting for the Arne Slot appreciation posts by our players on social media.
I was just reading the David Lynch article regarding Slot, and it was mentioned that part of what appealed about Slot to the club was his ability to reduce injuries with his relaxed training regime.
What this forgets is that Feyenoord (and many Dutch teams) are swapping out half their squad every season. The players may arrive fit, have a decent season of Slotball until their conditioning is shot, and then move on to the next batch of players.
This doesnât really work in our setup, where we are looking to bring in talented players and keep them over multiple contracts.
Yeah, agree with this. I donât think this is the right time for us to go for another quiet, nerdy type, for me we need to bring back our bombast and swagger, which I think Iraola will provide.
Still waitingâŚ

Is Scott that good?
Seems a goal threat and the odd nice run forward but in that 2 with Wharton, what would be his role?
This feels like a sliding door avatar moment.
Make it so.
I see that the gobshite Carragher has crawled out and has finally commented good to see Mo lives rent free in his head.
Genuine question ; Why all the vitriol for Carragher ? (I admit I havenât been in the UK for 15yrs now and may have missed a lot , but for me he was a giant for us and a scouser to boot. I just donât get it.)
Iraiola is what I imagine a young Rafa would have been like. Frequently gets fiery privately when he needs to be but publicly controlled and measuredâŚmostly.
Iâve never met a dispassionate Spaniard (yes I know heâs Basque, the same applies though).
Thank you Trainer? ![]()
Youâre kidding, right? Itâs like a dark cloud has been lifted off all my supporting friends. You can even feel it around here.
Probably directly translated from Dutch but you lads crack me up ![]()
