Arne Slot - Former Head Coach (Part 2)

Strongly disagree here. If anything I think he needed to act earlier to bench Mo who wasn’t giving us anything and it was like playing with 10 when he was on the pitch for much of the first half of the season. Given Mo’s outburst, you can perhaps see why he was reluctant. Clearly Mo has lots to feel aggrieved with wrt fitness and training levels but ultimately Arne dropping Mo was the first (probably only) time this season when I felt he may actually change something to turn our season around.

Good to see from Virg. Interesting to see what others do/don’t post.

So far, only Virgil.

Who liked it?

You can’t see it; it was posted as a story at the top. So, just the picture.

Meghan Trainor?

Where the ‘always enjoyed working with you and learnt so much’?

Presumably they enjoyed the title season, but this year he seemed to have got their goat :goat:

I think it says a lot that 24hrs later there’s only been 1 post of thanks for a departing manager. I’m not surprised to see it’s Virgil posting it, class and respectful all the way but nothing more than a thank you.

That is really nice of Virge to acknowledged what Arne has done.

Conor Bradley is the only first team player to have liked any of the posts about Arne Slot posted by the official page, that I can see.

Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones have posted updates to their stories in the last few hours and neither said anything about Slot.

I know the instagram journalism will annoy a few people but I do think we are seeing just the extent to which he lost the dressing room. For it to be this quiet I’m really curious what exactly happened. It seems like his relationship with everyone broke down.

Even the post by van Dijk is, while classy, luke warm.

Speaking for myself of course, I do not feel remotely sad. Despite winning the league, which was largely done with Klopp’s players still playing with Klopp’s instructions in their heads, Slot ended up being completely out of depth with players making it clear that they had little respect for him. He lost most of the fanbase including large parts of the matchgoing crowd. When I looked ahead to next season not only was I pessimistic, I was bordering on being depressed.

Now Slot has gone the clouds have lifted and I am positively looking forward to next season. So much so that I committed what appears to be the mortal sin of breaking out a few party popper emojis to show just how much I was cheered by the news that the club had finally done the right thing.

I don’t feel annoyed at the man, he just wasn’t up to the task, and that’s OK, we move on.Some may think it wrong to say but he got the best out of Klopps team last year without really changing anything but when his influence grew on tactics and player selection and we transitioned to “his team”, we fell away badly.

I can’t read it as it’s behind a wall. Who are the 3 players?

Wirtz, Isak, and Mo.

Somehow I doubt Dutch journalists were sitting through turgid games like Liverpool 0-3 Nottingham Forest or even just plain the plain boring grind of Liverpool 1-1 Burnley so their opinions shouldn’t really be worth much.

However we saw it a few weeks ago the fans were being labelled as toxic and impatient, didn’t understand enough about football or transfers and now it’s the football club as a whole being branded as losing it’s culture and identity because they dared to make the only possible call and fire a terribly underperforming manager… what I’m getting at is that I think Slot or Slot’s agent has quite a few friends in media and has been calling in favours to direct the blame away from himself.

Like I said in the other thread, journalism thesedays is apparently just printing things you hear completely uncritically.

I would be surprised if there was any really freedom in posting anymore. The captain posting is a clear sign that this is probably being managed.
