The petition is ridiculous and embarrssing.

That said, I have signed the Real Madrid one 17 times.

It was last night after a few drinks, and I was thinking along the lines of whether I can or can’t get no satisfaction?

I probably should’ve said that Liverpool had already conceded that many league goals around about the Boxing Day fixtures and I remember thinking then that we won’t catch Arsenal. Realistically it was only the cheating team that had been able to keep on their tail all season. So there’s the first two places out of sight and that was last year. If you look at the goals conceded from 3rd place down to 20th place, it really is a shocking sight.

If we finish season in fourth place then that’s all they could deliver.

When Klopp announced his resignation in Jan 2024, I immediately cancelled my TNT sports subscription that same day and didn’t go back. It was some sort of protest whereby I didn’t want to spend more money if I’m not able to watch Klopp’s team. We were actually in the Europa League when he decided to leave, so I’m not an all or nothing Champions League fan. I’d never even heard of Slot, my mind was made up in an instant without giving it a second thought.

Even though I actually think we did perform ok in this years ECL and last years also. I wasn’t tempted to resubscribe and only caught the odd games on Amazon prime since.

I’m no longer dissatisfied though as I expect this Liverpool side aren’t going to be winning for a few seasons. All the best pros have gone or going. Qualifying for Europe is still the best to hope for though.

So, What’s taking them so long? Cancel the YouTube subscription

I don’t think the petition is embarrassing at all. Why would it be? People petition their governments, local and national, all the time because they want/need something. Not like Joe can ring up Anfield and say he wants to speak to Mr Hughes about the manager, can he? I think everyone’s being a bit precious about it.

Online presence, hate it or whatever, is by now the most effective way of mobilizing large numbers of people. There might be a lot of bad faith actors using it but the majority using it would be Liverpool fans. As @Livvy says as well, she subscribes to the YouTube channel. There would hardly any people supporting other clubs wanting to pay to be part of our Channel and their comments are by and large of the same outlook?

TAN is a bit naff and out of touch sometimes. Said before and will probably say it again at some point.

So less than 5 % of the 12 million!

I’m trying to understand why some people here find this petition embarrassing. It’s a bit difficult for me, to be honest, but I’ve often noticed that discussions here tend to focus on what rival fans might think about something, etc. It must be some kind of cultural thing; I’m having a little trouble really grasping it because it’s not something we really experience here. For me, it’s not a big deal, and I don’t see it as a big issue. Perhaps someone from abroad started this petition, where it’s considered normal.

Ultimately, it’s not important how people express their dissatisfaction with the current situation. What really matters is that they do it. It shouldn’t have come to this, but it is what it is.

The issue isn’t its credibility or the veracity of the signatures. On its own, it won’t make much of a difference, but coupled with the general distress and dissatisfaction, it does leave a footprint and it does make an impression.

FSG have shown over the years that they are very conscious of how they are perceived by the fanbase and 700,000+ signatures requesting for the head coach to be removed, aren’t going to be glossed over, no matter how ridiculous you may think they are.

For the record, I took a look and it’s indeed a simple amateur website put together in Javascript. The only thing you have to do in order to vote as many times as you want is to open it in incognito mode.

If there are 12 million subscribers and only 500,000 have voted for him to be sacked, then it could be said 11.5 million don’t.

So looking through rose tinted glasses FSG are right in their stance of wanti g to persist with Arne, if indeed that is their stance.

Just pointless from a statistics point of view, when we all know the majority feel it needs a change

Isn’t it a bit too early to make a final assessment already? I had to look it up, it is 672k and counting now and It was only launched yesterday.
So let’s wait and see… Jeez

Imo this whole discussion about it is rather silly and misses the point. That doesn’t make sense to me, I’m sorry.

As @RedWhippet wrote, we don’t know how many LFC fans are among those. My bet is less than 30%. Everton and manc fans will have had a field day signing this.

Why would they? They’ll be praying that Slot stays.

To embarass the club, stir unrest and simply having fun laughing at LFC.

Apparently, there are members here who specifically registered on Redcafe just to vote on whether Ole should stay, or Ten Haag, by the way. These Everton fans, etc., really want Slot to stay. They’re not voting for him to be sacked.

They’re all really enjoying it right now. None of them want any changes.

A lot of us grew up proudly supporting a club that had class and dignity, which didn’t do business in public, whose fans were loyal and knowledgeable and which dealt fairly and respectfully with opponents and others.
Of course, times have changed, but it’s not a bad thing to at least strive towards these values.
This kind of stunt is cheap, performative, and exactly the kind of thing we mock other clubs for.
I hope the club move swiftly, quietly and respectfully towards finding a replacement with as little theatre and fuss as possible.

@Livvy

This is a great post as to why so many here are against this sort of thing.

Yes, I saw that, but the difference is perhaps that I didn’t grow up like that, and honestly, I can’t understand it. I actually find it rather embarrassing and arrogant when someone thinks they’re better than others.

I’ll just accept it then.

I’m sorry, I can’t explain it any better. To me, it’s completely over the top.
Let’s leave it at that, please.

Striving to do things the right way is not the same as thinking you’re better than others.

Would you or anyone you know have signed a petition for United to sack Amorim? No, and neither would United, Everton fans or whatever sign one to remove Slot.

I’d more expect them to start their own one demanding he be kept on!

We use to have a bit about the history of the club on tia , basically the history of the modern era from shankly and how he tapped into the working class ethos of the fans and his own political beliefs…this has always been the way …Klopp was essentially shanks reincarnated from a fans perspective , he had similar thoughts about society etc, but the connection he had with the fan base was something that was really similar.

Its not what klopp did for the club or what shankly did as manager that really counts from my perspective ( to what they won) but more so with how they connected to the local community and the wider base across the uk (Klopp obviously had broader reach on the international scale).

It really is hard to explain 100% but it is genuinely referred to as the Liverpool Way, something which when Jota died, Slot did show great handling of it, and was definitely doing things the lfc way imo…but…

To me the issue is hughes, edwards and fsg..spunking Ā£126 million on a player who went on strike , and was unfit, another Ā£116 million on a player who is so far not worth the justification of that price…

And its this sort of transfer money that breaks away with the liverpool way…for example i understand that fees are inflated etc as is the modern way, but remember Klopps quote of ā€œif i ever spent Ā£100 million on a player i would quitā€ or something to that effect.
