This is where I disagree, I think the league is stronger, teams are better coached, there is more money and overall a higher calibre of player
If Slot actually said Anfield is losing its fear factor then that falls squarely on him. If he said this then he should go.
.
However we didn’t lose but really should have on that performance. We have Leeds then Milan and unless we have a dramatic turnaround I fear the worst for Slot.
.
The last time I seen an LFC team with apparently no belief was under Hodgson and I never want to go back there.
Sound. When are we signing them?
Skipped Rodgers then … that at the end was fire.
You’d have to be a man of God to have the patience to put up with this shit for much longer. Is it 20 losses now this calendar year? Starting to lose count. We’re on record to hit our 2nd ever lowest points total in a season and he’s no closer to finding the answers like he alluded to almost 2 months ago. What are we doing here?
I’m starting to lose faith. Our style of football needs to change — we’re playing passive, controlled possession when we should be playing ‘aggressive’ controlled possession.
Even though I say the above I do hope he can turn it around, I don’t want us to be a sacking club.
Of course, but there’s just no sign of it at the moment. There’s really so little to give us any hope. If it were just a case of waiting for the defence to tighten up or the attack to click, it wouldn’t be as bad, but there are issues all over the park and no discernible plan.
I do hate to agree with an Aussie ![]()
Me too. Rarely happens though for obvious reasons.
I think Arne needs to have a major rethink in what he is doing with the team, the ethos behind our supposed playing style and he needs to do this quickly.
I thought with the game against West Ham, that we had taken a step in the right direction by his team selection and the solidity of the defence.
However, against Sunderland that solidity was there but no urgency or shape in possession, it was pretty much the same we have seen all season, slow build up play, I was going to put methodical, but I don’t see a method so that would have been wrong.
Then 2nd half we went and brought Mo on and although the urgency picked up it was really without direction and the same failings and he also marginalised Wirtz by putting him out on the left, then ho hum we conceded.
A mistake by us and an unlucky deflection, the story of our season.
Then at least we came alive, but now just loads of attackers on and what appears as with other games no shape. This did release Wirtz from the wide left and he started to connect with players all over the pitch, Szob, Mo, Hugo and Jones and we equalized.
We continued to push for the winner, which I do agree with, but we then almost left the door wide open, why leave Chiesa as our last man, but alas he was superman and saved us.
Just all the above has me doubting Arne, the famous quote comes to mind “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”
I think Slot is just that obsessed with PSG that he’s following their blueprint from last season of being absolutely shite until January then sign a winger (possibly Semenyo for us?!) then go on to win the Champions league.
I have to say I really miss our 2017-2020 version when we played rapid and aggressive pressing football. In fact our attacks were more terrifying before Thiago.
The problem is that, we are stuck with Wirtz and Isak, both of whom especially Isak are not really compatible with that version of Liverpool. Integrating Wirtz into such team will require digging up old footage of Coutinho.
Why? Isak played for Newcastle who were very much that style.
That was a team in the image of the manager, who is no longer here. Great times but no point in pining over the past. Wirtz is top drawer and we should build the team around him. Isak has shown that he can be one of the world’s best strikers and he can definitely do it for us
Just watched a video from redmen tv, did Chiesa save Arne’s job, how ironic lol
Almost cost him it as well, but lest said about that.
Nope, I disagree, it would then still be the coaches fault, as what sensible coach would pick Chiesa to be the last man, therefore you argument falls down and your dig at Chiesa again.
a) I’ve already said this myself
b) Did Slot tell the team to make Chiesa last man? He seemed pretty annoyed about something at the time.
It’s bugging me how Fede gives 100% everytime and has quality too, but Slot treats him like shit. He needs to put in a transfer request for his own sanity. I love Chiesa’s attitude…better than some of our players at the moment!!!
