I said I would be happy if we won it again in my life. Klopp did. Slot did. So he has huge credit.
But in terms of history changing coaches I am not sure. But then who out there is?

Traore?
I would say that’s really disingenuous use of stats. How many premier league games did we actually play in March …….
One
The game we played against Southampton were Salah scored 2. Salah also scored on 27th of April against Spurs when we were awarded the title.
So that leaves basically the games from the start to mid April.
Against Leicester. Here is what TIA said about him 7 out of 10 “ Salah was the locksmith today. He tinkered, tampered and rearranged, slotting new parts in between the defensive ranks as Liverpool had to look for new avenues of attack.
Could’ve been more clinical with his own chances, having been denied by the woodwork and bodies on the line. But Salah was always there, taking up those positions, jinking inside and serving those deft, curled left-foot crosses high to the back post. Jota should have scored from one such offering”
So clearly not bad game.
Ok so what about game before that ? Well the BBC sub headline for game is “hero Salah helps dig Liverpool out” as he set Diaz up for first goal. Don’t need to say much else.
Fulham we lost, 3-2. Salah did have a bad game (so did rest of team). But match review of Salah “No shortage of effort and a couple of moments of promise but soon became frustrated at the lack of quality.”
That just leaves Everton. Game we won 1-0. Match review “Was at the centre of everything good for Liverpool but just lacked that final pass or shot.”
He clearly didn’t down tools from March.
It’s been Billy Hogan’s fault for about 15 years…
I’m still confused why he gets so much hate.
Oh! That’s interesting. And I’m assuming that there were no other matches going on then right? Nothing of import?
No one said he downed tools from March. It’s that his form dipped. And that dip turned into the valley we see today, which you’re conveniently ignoring in all this.
Exactly. Lots of posters had been calling for Mo to be dropped well before the 2.5 games that precipitated his outburst and felt Arne’s failure to do so was a big black mark against his ability to turn things around. As it turns out, Slot probably was seeking to avoid the wrath of Salah by keeping him in the team much longer than he deserved.
Yeah, it was 2 goals in 9 games across the last 2 months of the season. But if you want to include the Southampton game when he scored 2 (and then made the more out than in comments) then adding that additional month when EVERYTHING was still at stake, it comes out at just 4 goals in 13 games in all competitions over the last 3 months. That arguably makes it worse. It’s still WAY off the pace of what is needed from him, extends the period to one lasting about 1/4 of a season, and especially when you focus on how bad the performances were in the March we cannot use the excuse of “the season was essentially already over” that was so tempting to use for the slow down in April and May.
And qualitatively, it is probably relevant to consider how utterly bossed he was against PSG, especially in that first tie, the game that kicked off the period. It was probably the first time anyone saw Mo in a Liverpool shirt handled like that. That was the game people responded to at the time asking “shit, was this the game when Mo became old?”
And THAT block in the CL final from Shevchenko!
Anyway those comments from Slot in the presser today really drive home how misdirected lots of people have been imaging how this played out using literal interpretations of Mo talking about “no relationship” and “no conversations”.
This is what I mean about the forensic bollocks. Mo’s post was so divisive that it pitted good reds against one another.
In the spirit of Rafa Benitez:
Fact: Mo had a brilliant first half to last season
Fact: Mo settled down the second half of the season, but overall his season was awesome
Fact: Mo has been way below the standards he set last season
He gave his incendiary interview. Not on. The club, and Slot, has tried to manage the situation since. He’s in the squad tomorrow. Will he start? What sort of a farewell will he give to the crowd at the end?
Fact: we know there are issues to resolve, between Salah’s agent and the club, when Mo goes off to AFCON.
Will it lead to an exit? Will Mo end up staying?
That’s what we don’t know yet.
My best guess is there will be a couple more salty comments from Mo, before a January exit to the Saudis. Could be wrong. Let’s see.
Both goals against Southampton were penalties
It’s coz he’s related to Hulk Hogan ![]()

What are you trying to get from all this? That at the first sight of trouble drop out leading scorer of 8 years who JUST swept up every personal accolade going in the country including being the top scorer in the league?
Arne has been beaten to a bloody pulp by some here about performing badly with the team from exactly that time. You seem to be conflating our drop in form for a myriad of problems with Mo’s form.
If you can’t give the current holder of the PL golden boot some grace then honestly I don’t know what to say.
I am lost, he has been given a lot of grace, as people have pointed out his number and form since February have dropped off and he was and until recently playing 90 minutes every game and not producing.
I have said multiple times that Mo isn’t solely responsible for all of our problems. I’m rebutting the presumption from Mo Salah to claim entitlement to start. I’m explaining why Slot’s decision is justified.
That isn’t to say that Slot and the players have had many other issues, that I’ve also discussed ad nauseum.
I don’t take joy in saying this. I’m a big Mo Salah fan. Do you know where I was when we won the title last April? I was in Cairo, at the Pyramids, wearing a Mo Salah jersey.
That is why I’m very disappointed in his comments, and hopeful that there is a resolution that sees an upturn in play from him (and everyone else).
I am in complete agreement that whatever the circumstances, I sincerely wish he hadn’t made those comments publicly in the mixed zone.
Just get your agent to earn his retainer by talking in your behalf to Hughes/edwards/slot
With the outburst and the manner it unfolded… I think MO has clipped his own wings here. If anyone viewed it as a ‘him or me’ power struggle of sorts, can be left in no doubt that LFC hold the high ground at this point.
In my opinion, all MO has succeeded in doing, has been to hasten his own departure.
AS unceremoniously dropped him once, will come a lot easier to do it again if he feels it needs doing, as will dragging him off at the 60min mark if he feels it needs to be done
