Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 1)

I for one, will not be happy to give him another season.

No he has to go. Another season with Slot from what I have seen would spell disaster!

I am starting to get a horrible feeling that the club are going to do a Brendan style non-sacking again. I think there’s a very good chance he’ll still be here at the start of next season despite it being obvious we’re going backwards because of him. It’s starting to feel like Rodgers all over again to me. I hope I’m wrong, I really do!!!

Indeed, the entire game has dropped in quality, its as if we’re in a come down after a golden age.

I haven’t heard that there’s any contract extension negotiations. If this is correct it’s all in the balance. Could go either way however would indicate FSG are very nervous about extending which also points to him being given the door at the end of the season imo.

Totally agree

Yes just to conclude imo there’s not a great side out there atm. Just a bit of a mixed bag. For me that indicates a drop in quality over any other consideration.

I read an article that his family is still not in a position to move to our local area just yet because of a number of factors. Maybe this solitary existence is having a negative impact on Slot himself…

We now have more backing articles than actual good performances and wins this season.

This is kind of weird because the owners don’t usually communicate so regularly. Unless it’s about ticket prices etc.

Yep, I see it too, PSG seem the best team to me, but would not be in another period.

There is a spectre of the widespread ruination of the game on the horizon. If any of my players came with a new fucking haircut every week, Id have crew cuts written into the contracts.

That’s a bit strange, because at least his eldest daughter has been hopping around Ibiza and other warm places for over a year. They’re priorities must lie elsewhere.

Just take a look at her Instagram, she’s definitely not going to school or working anything anymore.

But then we’ll never know who wins this argument. Surely it’s worth another season to find out if you’re right, right?

I remember that Slot still has a young son…

Come on rab I’m not here to win arguements and just want the best for the club.
I have my opinions and if I feel Slot is a failure there’s not a hope in hell I’d wish to impose another year of the tripe I’ve seen for over a year on myself for another season. Something I believe would cost us dearly for the sake of settling an arguement.
In any case I’m not arguing, I’m just expressling opinions and frustrations.

The daughter is 19 and the son must be around 16\17 by now. But I’m not stalking them, and I don’t actually want to know anything about this family. I’m just telling you what I noticed on Instagram. The daughter keeps posting vacation pictures, for many months now. And every now and then, pictures of what it’s like at a game, like the last one from Paris.

I think Slot is a goner. I hope Alonso is lined up. We need a sense of release - players and fans alike, and then hope will start to return as we look ahead with renewed optimism.

do you think?

I’m just teasing based on the general discourse of his two seasons being very different and therefore no one really being able to determine what his level is. It wasn’t specifically about you but you were first to take the bait.

For what it’s worth I think he did a fine job last year with a very settled group but this year he’s struggled with the first phase of building his own team. The longer it’s gone on the less convinced I am he’s the right man to have at the helm as we face another summer upheaval of big names leaving.

I think he’s done the job we needed in terms of cushioning the blow of losing Klopp better than any of us hoped. He’s also going to be the guy overseeing the departures of Trent, Mo, Robertson and possibly Ali. All cornerstones of that Klopp side and the team’s former identity. No new manager wants to feel like they’re the ones putting club legends out to pasture, especially first summer in the job. This way Slot has overseen the majority of that change rather than it sitting on the next guy.

A new manager and a fresh start seems the only way forward. The fact Alonso is sat there waiting to see what offers he gets seems to perfect an opportunity to pass up. And his appointment immediately gets the fans excited and back behind the team again, let alone what he can do to reinvigorate the players.

I wonder how his friendship with Arby is after the Real fiasco? Id imagine he’s clear eyed enough to not have hard feelings about being replaced by him, and so I wonder if Xabi came in whether Arby coming in as his hard headed enforcer coach would be on the cards.
