Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 1)

Unless he’s blind, he’ll know that’s a terrible move. He’s already done one crackpot club having been at Madrid.

but yet we are 5th in the league whilst Chelsea are 7th,

meanwhile Leeds are 15th in the league despite only been outrun on 5 occasions

work smarter and all that…

I can’t see Slot staying. That’s not just based on what has happened this season , but also for his personal reasons. I heard in the Dutch media the other day on radio that he has a young family, and is really keen to return home and there have been some secret discussions with Ajax going on.

I can’t see Alonso joining us, for 2 major reasons.

  • He won’t accept the position of a coach here, with the sporting director like Hughes running the show and finding all sort of wrong profiles for the club. The power does not lie with the coach in the new setup since Hughes and Edwards came back and I can’t believe Alonso will be ready to put his neck on the line for Hughes shortcomings. He wants control.
  • There are better propositions available in the market. Chelsea(London based), Bayern(If Kompany goes to city) and even United from some whispers I have heard.I also don’t think he needs to have any loyalties that he can’t sign for Scum.

So, If I have to put my money on…it will be either Iraola or a left field option like Sebastian Hoeness.

My only wish is who ever comes in , Hughes must go. This whole mess of unbalanced squad lies alot on his shoulders than Slot.

Think this might be more on Arne. It was him driving the narrative that we had been found out by other clubs and needed to change and that influenced the signings were made.

The young family thing is overplayed. His kids are in their late teens. Ofcourse, its not nice to be away from family, but its not like his kids are in nappies.

He did Madrid, another club where those in charge have itchy fingers when it comes to firings. If he considers Chelsea after that it proves to me he wouldn’t have been the right man for us.

Of course Xabi’s name will be linked to any CL level club right now. But Iraola, Cesc, Glassner, Emery, Frank, Silva, Southgate are all other possibilities. That’s before the end of season cull and the inevitable flurry of departures from international teams post world cup.

I reckon they probably view Cesc like we view Xabi. The type that knows the club, embodies the values, gets the fans on side with his appointment, etc, etc.

Just watched a video on why Chelsea are performing poorly and it showed a stat regarding shots per game,we weren’t even in the top 10, and distance run, already shown on here, where we are 2nd from bottom.

Also, our goal difference is just 11, just shows how bad defensively we are.

If Arne stays on for next season, it is beyond me what warrants the managements belief in that he can turn it around, stats aren’t favourable and the eye test backs that up.

Anything beyond assumption and guess work? As it’s behind a paywall.

They all copy from each other, or rather, they use bits and pieces that are thrown to them.

As proven today Rosenior was safe in his job till he was not.

Five games to go, CL qualification still in the balance and people are surprised that the message getting out into the media is one that pours cold water on the possibility of the manager being replaced.

Won’t believe he’s our man for next season until I see him back for pre-season.

Can post a link to a non paywall version but not sure its allowed?

Basically states the same as reports from Pearce and Joyce regarding injuries, Jota’s death, high turnover of players and drop off of Salah which was unexpected.

If he gets Champions League which seems probable he’ll be here next season.

Pre-season with ajax I hope

Another theory.

Slot can’t be sacked because Hughes and Edwards are exhausted from all the signings this season.

They needed someone younger, going for Rojunior

I agree. We’ve been hearing all season suggestions that the ownership viewed it as a transitional season due to mitigating circumstances, Jota and squad re build due to Diaz, Nunez, Trent etc moving on and others coning to the end like Salah, Robbo. That’s what is worrying. We have no idea if it’s true of course but all the noises seem to indicate it atthe moment.

That’s not entirely true it became a transitional season once it started going wrong. It was never mentioned when we won the first 5 games.

You mean tired from unnecessarily chasing Isak when they could have rather brought in a DM.

I was always expecting something of a transitional season due to volume of change. However to me that meant I thought we would start inconsistently and build on the good as the season went on. We did start inconsistently, despite winning the first six. At that point I was still optimistically thinking “what are we going to be like when we start clicking?”. Still waiting. :frowning:
