With it becoming clear that Alonzo is Manager at Chelsea and apparently has a say in players, which does not seem popular here, did we ever approach Xabi..we will never know, but no matter now.
Call me old fashioned, but as the one who gets it in the neck when things go tits up,and that aint changing, the Manager should have control over the playing staff, that said, it could be argued that Slot’s downfall is trying to put his own mark on it, though with the money spent last summer, was maybe not on who he would have wanted, and those who were here who he didn’t want got sidelined, which is just plain stupid.
If Xabi saw that he wouldn’t have touched us anyway..if approached.
Wonder if some egos play a role, sad,if true.
It’s possible but unlikely that Arne didn’t have a big say in last season’s transfers. His first summer window was spent trying to sign a midfielder with the specific set of skills to fit his ‘system’. Then he won the league - it is difficult to imagine that having done that his input in transfers is going to be marginalised, particularly when much of last summer’s business probably revolved around what he felt was needed post February when he was saying that our way of playing had been found out and needed to change.
If Slot is relieved from his misery, that’s probably the correct answer. I can’t quite figure out why, apart maybe that Xabi had demands they didn’t want to accept?
100%. That for me is the clearest indication that he’ll be sacked shortly.

Wow, the cheek of him to mention holidays when he is off nearly every week away from the northwest of England!
I’m sure that he is just trolling people now. Did you hear the “future of manager is only 3 days” comment? I expected that would get social media in a fluster.
Please ignore the headline
I’m only posting this to show the comments in the stream.

These are the comments under all LFC videos nowadays.
It’s been like that for months.
Combs, brushes etc etc…
Bunch of sad fucks the lot of them. If they met him in person they’d all be after a selfie or an autograph.
I’d get him to sign my £45 Arne Slot ice cube…
This post gives you the names of the “replacement coach” with the above photo.
Carlo Arnselotti would be a dream come true… the Italians sure know their tactics
Fucking unbelievable!!! He pisses me off everytime he opens his mouth.
The two pics on the right look so plausable. Top right is Dutch and bottom right Argie. What was that alternative universe show in the 1990s - Sliders? ![]()
Is it that facts no longer matter? That we have no obligation to tether our comments to facts?
That statement is factually incorrect. It doesn’t matter how many times you repeat it. Its simply a lie…
I was sort of thinking/hoping that Slot’s presser would have Hughes or one of the suits alongside, and a statement on his impending exit after the Brentford game would be made.
If he is going, we have now invited a lot more potential for fan protest, booing or disquiet in the last game, and we could have drawn a line under it today.
It’s going to be a strange one. We are not certain for CL yet. Ideally we get a result and play well to at least give the fans something to cheer about. Brentford have their own goals and are fighting hard. We are saying goodbye to at least two legends. We potentially could have folded Henderson into that in some small way. And then of course the elephant in the room is Slot. It seems that enough fans want him gone, so will they make their voices heard again?
I really don’t like having so many ‘agendas’ around the game itself, and some leadership from the suits could have made it cleaner.
It is not me who said it…
"It is the second such pause in three weeks in February, with Slot typically allowing his staff and players a two or three-day break during a game-a-week schedule.
And asked about the importance of that time off, the head coach described it as “necessary” for his squad and “always nice” for himself to rejoin his family in Zwolle.
“I think if there’s a difference between players and managers it’s that if players have days off they also prepare their body and all these kinds of things,” he told reporters in his pre-Forest press conference.
“They’re probably not thinking every second of the day about Forest.
“If managers have a day off or two days off they do think about their next meeting and the next opponent they will play.
“But it’s always nice in my situation to go home, to see the family, because they’re not always around with me.
“So yeah it was nice, and useful, because I think the players we have, nine out of 10 go to the national teams.
“I think for seven or eight months, they’ve hardly had any days off.
“When you can give them a few days off – which is not common in our schedule – it’s necessary for them, to get them in the best possible way for Sunday but also in the weeks after.”
Asked whether he felt he needed the break, Slot replied: “No, I didn’t need it. I think maybe if you ask me the same question in a month it’s different.
“It was nice to have a few days off, but I didn’t really need it. Last season I felt I needed it more maybe in this period, or it was mid-March.
“No, I’m enjoying the work I do over here, I enjoy working with the players, I enjoy working with the staff.
“I couldn’t say I really needed it, but it’s nice to have.”
And that article was written in February 2026 in the midst of us having that winless unbeaten run…
It’s unbelievable and pissing you off that they’ll have a holiday when season ends?
