Arne Slot - Head Coach (Part 2)

They say a picture paints a thousand words!! I felt for him when the camera cut to him like this. He was a massive part of a league win, something we have done once before in the last 35 years. For that we are very grateful.
He is clearly now out of his depth with the job that needs doing. All the best, he’ll be on the wall forever, but the re build is clearly beyond him. Plus the fans have turned so it’s hard to come back after that.

Arne Slot should have got the mic and said some words about Mo and Robbo to the Anfield fans.

Mo and Robbo should have been allowed to address the Anfield crowd.
They never got a chance. :slightly_frowning_face:

Wasn’t his wife with him?

I haven’t seen her, was she?

I haven’t seen any footage of her there. Maybe she is in the Netherlands with the kids.

The daughter is somewhere at the beach, maybe they will meet there soon

Among the many worries I have about this team but somewhere very near the top of the list is the apathy that seems to have set in.

It’s little things you pick up watching a game like today’s. Kelleher collects a ball and holds it for a few seconds. Three of our lads turn their back on the ball and begin to walk back to our half. My daughter’s U10s are taught not to do that. If you’re dropping back, you run and if you’re thinking you’ll press you hold your position. But in neither case do you turn your back on the ball.

Then there’s the tackling. There was a particular Gakpo one where he tries to tackle back and nick it in their half. He doesn’t immediately win it so just stops. The player is still there to be harassed and harried but instead he jogs off with it and carries it another ten yards without a player of ours near him. Just checked and our tackle win rate was 27% compared to Brentford’s 48%.

Then as we’re coming to the end of the game we’ve dropped deeper as Brentford up the tempo. Player of their’s picks it up half way into their half, wanders unchallenged half way into our half, plays it out to the wing where the next guy carries it another 20 or so into a crossing position before any of ours make an attempt to close him down. Three quarters the length of the field without the slightest hint of anyone doing anything.

We get a rare opportunity to counter. Ali looks up and everyone but Mo is pretty static. No recognition it’s an opportunity to avoid playing a low block for a few seconds. Just slow and static whilst Brentford reset.

And I don’t like picking on Rio but for both the Gakpo header chance and the goal he’s just jogging behind play as the ball is moving forward on the other wing. You want him busting a gut to get into that back post area but when each of those chances come he’s outside the box jogging. In fact, when you look at our goal Jones wins the header on the edge of our box. There’s only Virg, Konate and Robertson behind him at that point and yet he’s the one in the six yard box for the tap in. He’s run past Grav, Macca, Rio, Szobo and almost Gakpo to tap that in. Where’s the hunger to get forward?!

Even the celebration today was so low energy. Almost looked like they thought “what’s the point”.

Apathy is the enemy of progress and too many of them look apathetic to what’s going on despite talking a big game in interviews and on socials. They need a kick up the arse which I don’t think is coming from Slot and if it does I don’t think it lands or would be well received.

We need a new voice.

We need you and @koptician to get up the M62 before pre-season then, to get the lads in shape?

I am so flipping sad and depressed!! :slightly_frowning_face:

Rafael Benetiz!

Me too, it’s extremely harsh today. The absolute low point of a feast of 10 glorious years. Im jsut going to focus on the World Cup and avoid posting here for a bit. I think the crankiness of this season will overrun into summer and moderators need to be put on alert. Folks are going to fall out in their unhappiness.

Thing is, if he thinks he has been the same as last year, in his mind why are we 5th and not 1st?

Can only be injuries or bad transfers. Or I guess random bad luck

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face: I simply couldn’t remember anymore—I had completely blocked it all out.
