I have no idea what Amorim said and couldn’t care less.
The problem with Slot is that he isn’t even trying to build a connection with the fans and he doesn’t want to show vulnerability.
Sure there would have been boos if he takes the mic but I’m sure the fans would have listened.
‘This season wasn’t good enough but we will try everything to makes things right next season. Just give us a chance. And now let’s celebrate our departing legends Mo and Andy. YNWA’
Do you think the crowd would still have booed him after those three sentences?
I suggest you go give it a watch and ask yourself if that’s really what you wanted.
I’m sure if he had done that you’d be moaning at him for doing it as it’s complete cringe and ultimately pointless unless he’s getting results on the field.
I think a piece on the site recognising the issues and so on would help him somewhat. Off the cuff speech isn’t going cut it. Though he seems to put it down to injuries when he had pretty much just Isak missing out of first team players and was drawing 0-0 to teams like Leeds.
Obviously we don’t know the feelings of the players but it seems from the outside that he may have lost a number of them. Richard Hughes was a player himself so surely he knows there’s no way back if that is the case?
We’ve had plenty of reason to complain about Slot this season but some of the stuff being levelled at him is ridiculous. I actually felt sorry for him yday. If he’d done a speech (or anything at all really) people would be accusing him of trying to overshadow the farewells. He stayed out of the way so as not to cause any fuss and looked pretty lonely
Well, Slot’s family wasn’t present—and, unlike in the past, neither were the families of the other coaches. Quite a bit has changed there, in my opinion—including the sense of togetherness. The Dutch contingent, it seems, prefers to stay within its own bubble. Is that really how you build a connection with the fans? Or perhaps they already know that it’s all over.
I agree . When Klopp was manager, all his coaching staff, eg Peter and Pep, Mona, Andreas, physios and their families were all in the pitch on the last day of the season. It felt like a big family gathering in the garden, without the bbq.
I can’t even remember the names of Slot’s backroom staff. They look so detached from the rest of the players and the Anfield crowd.
Jones is a good player. He is good on the ball, home grown and local too. At the worst he should be a fourth option to go into three spots, and should see plenty of action. I would be sad if we sold him.
Of all the players we might look to move on and replace Jones should be the very last. He provides a hell of a lot of quality from the bench. By rights he should have started way more patches than Macca this season. It’s one of the biggest charges against Slot in fact.
