Didn’t we just praise Slot for daring to make changes early in the game, changing tactics to win games in the 2nd half last season? Now suddenly he is tactically inept?
The only thing we don’t know for sure, and which may have some bearing on the disjointed way we are playing, is that we have no clue what the relationship is like between AS and the players. This could be either collectively as a group, or singularly as individuals that have differing traits of personality.
New manager bounce last season, new relationships etc, along with some shrewd tactical nous got us over the PL winning line within the first 6months. Have relations gone downhill since then… who knows.
One thing is for sure though, in the workplace, the likelihood is that none of us on here would give 100% commitment if/when we work for a boss we do not like.
Tactically, AS may be a real wizard for all we know, but behind the scenes he might not be very likeable - but then, again, who knows, he might be very likeable..! We see him in front and centre at a press conference, but also, we have seen him front and centre endorsing Wayne Lineker in a photo shoot. The reality is, none of us know the real AS
Street angel, house devil was a phrase my old nan used to describe someone that had two sides to them… Until something of substance comes out into the open, we just don’t know what is happening behind the scenes, and we don’t know if behind the scenes there is a problem that needs resolving to help in improving our form back to winning ways…
What I do know, and there is no need to be pushing the panic button just yet, we have dropped 12points in quick succession. The reasons for this could be many and predominately futile, or there could be a main catalyst that needs smoothing over…
Either way, without the support and backing of the majority of the fanbase, this hole we are digging ourselves into will only get deeper. My gut feeling is that AS is the right man for the job, and we have to hope he has what it takes in bringing us success consistently, but he also is on a learning curve, as are the players. Only a fool would predict the verdict before the jury armed with the facts, re-enters the courtroom with a decision.
COYR :0)
Slot will be given time, that’s a given. It’s up to him, to make it count. He keeps this up and sooner or later he will be a goner.
Also, it’s pretty amazing that there are still people arguing about the merits of dropping this player or that player when the entire fucking team looks like it can’t string two passes together.
Alisson, Szoboszlai and Chiesa are the only players out of the entire squad performing at their level or above it. That should say something.
Right. And Rodgers would have too, bar a slip. It wouldn’t have made him any fitter to manage Liverpool then, as it doesn’t make Slot any fitter now. It just buys him some time.
Performances rank above all and ours have been going from bad to worse for 9 months now.
Nevertheless, no one thinks that this squad is lacking quality and should be performing like this. There were issues from the get-go, and they weren’t obscure to anyone paying attention, but going from a contending team to whatever this thing is, is mind-boggling. I’ve said this before, but I’m more and more convinced that the preseason was a mess and it’s not solely down to what happened to Jota.
MacAllisters loss of form and been out of the team,
should be factored in to our loss of form
we really miss his combative nature in the midfield
I blame @SBYM for going on RedCafe and trolling them!
And the home game was against the worst Utd side in living memory.
Jackbenimble was our karma
Given how we reverted from a decent showing in midweek back to the horrendous performances, and with a team a lot of us were happy with, it’s deeply concerning, and what I feared the most.
On Slot, I think he has until the November internationals for improvements in results, and especially performances (again, we need to see those green shoots). Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Real Madrid at home and Man City away before then. If we don’t see fight and technical qualities during these games, then I think those at executive level may pull the trigger. I’d expect a contingency plan is already been worked on just in case.
Part of it it’s also in the way Eintracht defended for most of that game. We improved somewhat midweek, but it was not surprising that Brentford offered a tougher challenge than Eintracht did (even if they put us under pressure at the start and we did pretty well to come back). This will not be linear, plus it might become even more complicated if we keep getting injuries.
36 games since Feb.
Won 20
Drawn 3
Lost 13
I’d say we’ve seen the best Liverpool in 4 of those games.
Nothing is actually working, certain players are being scapegoated but if I’m frankly honest the only ones who have turned up for the most part are Szobolzai, Alisson and Ekitike.
We’ve seen patches from others but when 3 players turn up, one who has been in and out, one who is currently injured and one who has played everywhere bar goal I think it’s going end up being how it is.
Having Wirtz in the midfield 3 rather than the front three is an enormous mistake and this trend will continue till it stops. Slot needs to address several things, and I think this will help the most seeing as though a solid midfield will help in def and att

Well, Liverpool as a club tends to be very very patient on manager firing until it really becomes untenable for the incumbent and the replacement becomes available. I don’t think any top class manager will be available in November.
As for the bolded part in your quote, it is a very interesting observation. The club has quite a few technically gifted players especially in the midfield. However, the fight seems to be not there as I seen some of our players shying out from tackles…
This was our average position of the starting team last night:
It’s essentially the formation/structure Spain are playing, with Olmo and (lately) Oyarzabal almost as two false #9’s and two very offensive wingers.
I was also curious to see whether Salah would be the right winger or right sided striker (which Isak was in Frankfurt) and at times we saw him and Wirtz occupying different positions.
I do wonder if we’re not better off going to a back 3.
We certainly have the wingbacks.

So you are saying LFC is trying to copy Spain who happens to have no proper CFs but plenty of talented wingers? LFC have 2 very good and young CFs…This revelation is just mind-boggling…
No.
This was our shape and selection last night, on Wednesday it was different, in our next time who knows what will be. We don’t change the structure that much, but it can depend with how many players we build from the back, what’s the shape in midfield and the choice of players in offensive positions.
Ekitike is a striker, but someone who can obviously drop and connect really well.
I do wonder if we’re not better off going to a back 3.
If that happens, the gnawing familiarity with Rodgers’ arc will be that much more intense. It is difficult to recall now, but circa November 2014 most of us had not completely soured on Rodgers, there was just a creeping doubt after a disappointing start to a season following after a remarkable near-miss. The back 3 system posed a different problem that caught a run of teams off-balance until Swansea solved it. When the wheels fell off though, there were no answers forthcoming. This period now feels very similar.
Even if temporarily to get our defense together.
I don’t see the relationship. Two different teams and managers
We might as well be looking at zodiac signs
