We are incapable of slowing the opposition down with the players we have. We don’t manage to put them on the wrong foot, Sheppard them where they don’t want to go or anything useful.
If you cannot slow them down you cannot hunt in packs.
I thought humping the ball out of play did us a lot of good as it slows things down and permits us to reorganise. It receives pressure on our CBs who tend to be too easily pressured. In fact they seem to be the only ones capable of winning the ball.
Bowen’s chance was better. Doesn’t have to score, but at least hit the target. Virgil went mad after that chance.
Ekitike’s is a bit tougher to score from there, he went for a swervy shot from not a great position with some bodies around, wasn’t a good shot.
So basically we dive in at the wrong moment ![]()
Well Macca does the rest I haven’t a clue what their technique is but it doesn’t work. ![]()
seen rumours Giovanni Van Bronkhurst might be on the way out,
he’s been blamed for the recent slump!
Who is reporting it?
Walshy
If there’s any legs in this I wonder if Heitinga might be coming back, after getting sacked by Ajax? He worked well with Grav and seemed to have good rapport with Slot and the group.
That’s what I meant - but I tried to be too clever and use only one word for it.
I hate it when opponents are quicker to react to second balls or if they get the freedom of our midfield or wings and carry the ball for tens of yards before scoring, like Semenyo did or PSV players whose names I can’t recall at the moment. It’s not just the defensive organisation - it’s the desire to win that tackle or the second ball or pull down a player trying to run through the defence.
What gets me about this statistic is that how well structured snd organised you have to be (as well as fit) to actually play this way. We’re say 5% off maybe. It looks more like 80%.
I dont think that’s right. Our stats show we are still attempting to press but failing. I think it is reasonable to suggest it has been our lack of aggression, an almost going through the motions, that has contributed to that failing.
Maybe, I got it from the video that was posted way up now. We’re still near the top for pressing action (aggressive) but clearly crap at it.
That is conflating doing the actions to get credit for a pressing action with playing with sufficient intensity or aggression. The eye test to me says that is not the case, and at minimum the stats highly suggestive of the same thing (i.e. why we’re failing so badly at it)
I really want a cheese toastie this afternoon.
More fake news from “Anfield something” Twitter profiles with a blue tick and people just copying without double-checking anything.
GVB has been linked with the Indonesia national team job, so he might be leaving for that reason.
I don’t know where to put this, so I’ll just leave it here.

His name always remind me of sausages
Groundbreaking stuff. Who knew? ![]()
Did some data crunching myself. Must improve in the scoring more goals than opponent per game stat (xWin + tabl)
