All I know is that things are not going to improve. There is no player in the world that will improve this team as it now exists, so spending money in the transfer market is 100% pointless, UNLESS, we are keeping Slot.
I am a pro get rid of him poster, I’m just not a pro caretaker manager. I think it will be Xabi, it’s who I wanted before Slot, I just knew it was unrealistic because of RM.
All the Klopp has vanished from this team. Klopp vanquished the Rodgers doom and gloom, it how now reared its ugly head once again. It will continue to fester under Slot, so the question is do we let it fester till the end of the season, get a caretaker or get our No 1 choice if available.

Don’t agree with this at all.
This is supposed to be the point of having a director of football rather than just buying players on the whims of the manager.
If a good centre back is available, why wouldn’t we sign them? We potentially need 3.
Regardless of when they plan to bin Slot off we should be looking to strengthen the side.

It’s not revisionist in the slightest.
The key point, as you yourself acknowledge with your reference about the recording of his leaving video, is that the club were already committed to selling. The fact it didn’t happen is because of the mess Palace found themselves in on deadline day. It’s much easier for Parish to push that deal through on his side if we had bid a little higher and done so sooner. With two days left in the window, any such deal inevitably becomes tied to what Palace can do to bring in a replacement.

we spent quite a bit in the summer 2025?
do we have breathing space to buy more players and still be within the FFP limits?
We didn’t have the highest net spend in the summer and hadn’t bought anyone for ages before that
A new manager need to have some input. If you buy a squad player or youth player then yes. If you are buying a major player (fee and wages), then we need to allow the new manager input.
Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies (the Spurs one) are available on bosman deals in the summer if we want to go full circle on the “we don’t have enough centre backs” narrative.
We can spend another £70m to £100m (depending on the Elliott situation) with no problem.

But for fuck ups by Brentford and Newcastle we would be eight in the table tonight.
This weekend should have been about consolidation of fourth place. But Arsenal bottled it today and we were abysmal yesterday.
The Man Utd that we love to deride and laugh at are ahead of us now. Lets take a moment to let that fucking sink in. Man Utd beat this years probable champions today and we fucked up against a poor Bournemouth side.
I am for giving our manager and players a pass at times. But the Bournemouth and Burnley performances were dismal. We won’t get fourth place this season. On yesterday’s form, not a fucking chance.

we started the season with VVD who is ageing and needs to be replaced in the medium term-not this season- but you get someone in…Konate, out of contract…Jo Go, as much as i love him, hes about a maximum 120 minutes away from his next injury at any given point in his career now…and an 18 year old kid who maybe phenomenal, but yknow…
so all four centre backs we started the season needed phasing out over time, or phasing in…anyone who says ‘who could of predicted’ is being myopic.

I think the last 2 games, and yesterday’s in particular, have been a real eye-opener in how fucked we actually are.
I wasn’t kidding myself, I’ve droned on on here for months about how fucking poor we have been for getting on 12 months.
But it’s now apparent that despite spending 450 million quid in the summer the whole fucking team needs re-building from front to back. The players who need binning off the most won’t bring in a lot of coin, maybe Gakpo and MacAllister will fetch a decent fee, but the likes of Konate, Gomes, Endo, Chiesa and Robbo will bring in buttons. We might get a decent fee for Salah and maybe we can try and offload VVD to Saudi if he continues his half-arsed passive defending til the end of the season.
We need a minimum of 3 CB’s, a left-back, 3 centre-mids and 2 quality wide players. That’s how fucked we are.
And a new manager of course, let’s not forget that.
