Arne Slot - Head Coach

I think you are massively under-estimating the re-build needed this summer.

1 winger? Is that to replace Salah, Gakpo and Chiesa? Because all 3 of them need drumming out the club asap. If we are to continue the 4-3-3 either under Slot or somebody else then we will need at least 3 quality wide players.

In midfield MacAllister and Jones are done here. Endo may go too. There’s another 3 who will need replacing.

In defensive Robbo will probably leave. Bradley is a crock. Gomez and Konate could both go. VVD will be 35 next birthday.

That’s where we are. Papering over the cracks will see us slip further and further away. Slot or a new man need to be fucking ruthless. Some of these players have had too many chances already.

I can list a lot more. Budget will be crucial. But I said minimum of three. Ideally we go further than that.

The one winger would be to replace Salah.
Ideally we get two wingers, but if not, we will persist with Gakpo, while also playing Frimpong on the wing a bit more, and also giving more action to Rio.

The midfielder will be someone to add more solidity in front of the back four, ideally Anderson or Wharton - robust, home grown, able to pass. I could possibly see Mac Allister making way for that to happen.

Depending on what happens in central defence we may need another signing there, in addition to Jacquet. I’m looking forward to seeing what Leoni can do too.

Kerkez is doing well at full back. I could see us bringing Tsimikas back to be a rotational option, or possibly buying someone cheaper, assuming Robbo moves on.

I am concerned about Bradley, and I think we have been unlucky with Frimpong getting injuries, as his record is robust.

Anyway, I will gladly do five signings, I’m not limiting it to three … but I do think there will be a minimum of three.

So that’s 8-9 new signings?

Amazing.

Salah. One of the greatest players in our history. And he needs ‘drumming out of the club’. Fucks sake.

Anyway, I think this summer is all about pace and width. Get in two really top drawer, hard working wingers and it should be a lot better.

Anything after that is dependent on departures.

Before any new signings… the first re-build should be the mentality of all our players, otherwise what is the point.

Tuchel, Zidane, Enrique, Ancelotti, Pochettino…

Tuchel has signed until 2028, Zidane is free, Enrique’s contract is until 2027, Ancelotti has said he thinks he will renew with Brazil until 2030, Pochettino’s contract does expire this summer.

What about…

Possible Scenarios:

1, We win CL (almost impossible to imagine) - Arne stays.

2, We win FA cup and get CL place - Very likely he stays.

3, We win FA cup but no CL place - 50/50.

4, No cups, we scrape into CL place - He probably goes.

5, No cups, no CL place - There has to be a change.

So, which of those is most likely?

I’d say anything from 3 down.

A lot of those signings will need to happen at one point or another, but it won’t all happen over one or two windows. The reality, though, is that this turnover will need to happen just by virtue of the various ages, contract situations, and performance issues of those players.

It’s all a part of the squad rebuild which began last summer and will continue to set up the next era of Liverpool football club.

I don’t think it will come down to results between now and the end of the season. The club will have sounded out possible replacements, and if a suitable candidate is available who they believe can do a better job, they will switch in the summer.

i think the only thing that saves Arne is winning the big one.

and even then im not sure he wont just walk…

i think hes mentally checked out, based on our energy levels and our urgency, we look like a team thats just waiting for the summer.

now we might scrape together enough pride to up ourselves for one off CL games… alot will hinge on Wirtz…but as far as what the future looks like, i honestly dont think Slot is planning to leave the kids school artwork up in the office, and the ‘worlds best Dad’ mug in the kitchen come the end of the season

it doesnt look like hes interested in building something, trying anything… it just has the feel of a guy putting minimum effort in.

im not actually slagging Slot here… its not an accusation that he doesnt care becuase hes a prick… its just a human doing human things… and i think there came a point when he stopped fighting the tide

I cant but help worry we are going to do our version of Ten Hag should really sack him in the summer but don’t. Give him money to spend but come Octoober we are in mess and hes given the bullet.

And Alonso won’t be available anymore.

I thought Nagelsmann was now the favourite from a couple of ITKs?

I don’t get this obsession English fans have with thinking Zidane will come to the Premier League.

He showed very little if any interest as a player in joining a P/L club and I don’t think he has that good a level of English ability - the very few interviews I have seen where he speaks English it is very broken and disjointed, so have massive concerns about his ability to communicate and get his points across effectively.

Rodgers and Hodgson…

I am not a fan of Zidane as a manager and would frankly be quite worried if we went down that path but language (lack there of) is not something that would hinder a good manager.

I know in Europe they don’t see it as that big an issue, but the UK media and fans would slaughter any club if they emplyed a manager that couldn’t speak English.

Think back the the shit Southampton took when they employed Poch and he would use an interpreter during his press conferences

That’s what I said, over a few years it might happen, but so many changes this summer? Surely not.
