Arne Slot - Head Coach

Yep.

Sounds like a normal conversation to me

It really is down to how the squad holds up and how we react to adversity.

We are in a very good place currently.

Yeah that is right MH… Silver lining is that we only have to compete against other teams, that will have the same problem.
What an achievement it is, to even get us into the top 4 in his first season, never mind having us visualizing winning the thing

Yeah I said at the start top 4 and a cup run.

Arne Slot - He(Jones) became a father. I’ve got nothing to do with that.

His sense of humour is amazing.

I gave up after three seconds of that video, due to the fucking annoying voiceover. Sounds like it’s either AI or someone who learnt their English from AI.

Yeah I can’t be arsed with that.

They used to have similar voices on Dyslexic software which was fine for learning but you had to pick the least annoying one.

I don’t know how, but somehow Arne is circumventing the referee issue. Our style was definitely more aggressive overall with Jurgen in terms of attacking and those direct engagements allowed refs to mete out judgement against us. Call it mass incompetence, call it cheating I’ll leave that up to you.

But by emphasising patience and creation of high quality chances he is giving the referees no recourse to rob us.

There will be a match where Liverpool are screwed over by the dodgy refs.

As of now , he’s staying clear of engaging with the referees. Maybe people who followed the Dutch league know whether it’s in his character.

Well Coote did his best last night.

I think this is a really good point. Klopp’s style possibly gave referees more flash points to officiate, and we were unfairly treated. Slot’s style is more measured - we do press, and we do counter, but we also build the play more methodically (I suspect the intricate passing, which we’ve seen somewhat, will improve as we go).

Slot hasn’t complained about anything so far, which might also help us in the long run, as refs like to assert their authority and don’t like managers questioning them.

Anyhow, so far so good.

Everyone goes on about us falling off last season but for me its still a combination of the injuries and the announcement of Klopp going so early that hyped unnecessary pressure of the team.

I wonder is it something to do with the yellow stripes on the kit again :joy:

I would imagine though that the players he inherited at a Feyernoord that finished fifth the season before he arrived are rather different from a Liverpool that were handicapped by injuries and a manager running low on energy (and the referees of course), who just spent £145m (numbers based on Wikipedia) buying four new midfielders, three of whom are in their prime or younger, while having 2 talented young midfielders, one of whom already is dominating games despite being looked down as “being in the team because he’s Scouse”.

I think our upcoming problems (Salah, van Dijk, Robertson/Tsimikas) are obvious, but I don’t think he would be looking to replace the younger players unless the need crops up (e.g. Alexander-Arnold). Alisson’s successor is probably with the club already.

The big question around Zubimendi would still be, what happens if he comes? That would mean that we would have rich depth but at the expense of playing time for Gravenberch, Mac Allister, and Jones. Endō is probably well aware that he won’t get that much time anyway, being the specialist in the team.

I think we are in such a good position that that is even a question.
