This would only make sense if we had seen more than about 3 good games since about October.
I had no expectation of a win today but that’s not because we are going to Man City with Oliver in charge that’s simply down to a manager and the reaction to 2-0 was even worse than it’s been.

This is a new low…I now highly suspect the reason why Arne Slot is not sacked yet even Alonso is available for quite some time now is either Alonso wants to get the job proper by 1st June 2026 or FSG is favouring someone else over Alonso…
As for Slot, if he cannot get any guarantee over his future or he is not going to get any new signings to replace our fading force, then for his own sake, he should just resign.
Can’t he just resign now? Nobody seriously believes he can turn this around, and he’s clinging to his job. Embarrassing by now. sigh

When PSG scored eight against Chelsea over two legs, I made a joke about accepting that over Liverpool’s two legs against PSG. Now I’m genuinely concerned we could ship that many goals in the away match alone. There’s not a player who looks like he knows what he’s supposed to be doing - and not many look like they even care.
@Livvy beat me to it - if I was Slot, I’d resign at this point and save myself further embarrassment.

The only thing that keeps Slot in post going into next season is a CL win. Yep, stop laughing, because it isn’t going to happen.
So all we are talking about is the timing.
Sacked now? It was a bad loss in the end to Man City, as hope evaporated.
Sacked after an exit to PSG? If a narrow exit, with fight, maybe he stays to the end of the season.
It feels like we are witnessing a car crash in slow motion.

If Slot resigns presumably he forfeits a pay off. If he is sacked, there will be money in it for him.
It’s up to the club to remove him. I think it is too much to expect Slot to leave of his own volition.

I honestly can’t imagine how Slot could possibly stand in front of the team anymore and try to motivate them or explain any tactics etc.It’s complete nonsense if anyone seriously thinks our players are still listening to him or believing what he says. That ship has sailed, I’d say.

Slot out. I’ve been saying that for months altogether.
As I’ve said in the past if I’m upset when we lose that’s Normal even if the reserves have played in a league cup or community shield match.
I’m feeling less upset than I do when we lose a pre season friendly.
