Just have to get him in! I presume he’s had enough of a break after Real? Hopefully he’d be prepared to come in before the summer holidays so he could really run the rule over the players but maybe he can do that from a direct line to some of the players plus watching our games. It’s a very important (and shortened) preseason and hitting the ground running will be vital.

If Edwards and Hughes are insistent on Slot staying and it continues into next season all three won’t be long for the club.
Looking at Joyce’s recent articles which you know Edwards will have had his ear, whoever is calling it seems to not have a limitless supply of patience. It’s why if we continue like this without some drastic improvement he’s a goner, it’s evident the idea was of a reset over the break ready to tackle a tough period only to see the form appear as bad as it has done for the last 6-7 months.
I do think there is an expectation to see something to help him and frankly it has to be more than one decent performance every 5-6 weeks.
If he loses all three this fortnight they might actually lose patience. This isn’t an Aaron Boone situation in New York.

If, as anticipated we replace Slot, I would love it to be Alonso. I expect it to be Alonso, due to him being the “alleged favourite to replace Klopp initially”, his History with the club and heart based preference of the Fanbase. Additionally as you said, he has a positive working history with Wirtz and also Frimpong.
I just hope us fans manage our expectations.
Some of us speculate that Alonso will do better with our current players than Slot, have us challenging next season and as you suggest be more flexible.
Yet, we have to put things into perspective, Alonso’s Leverkusen and the Madrid team he took over both lost to Slot managed teams.
Like Slot, he took over a Team (Madrid) in a healthy position, great players. They had won the La Liga the season before last.
It is rumoured that he lost the changing room at Madrid and yet it is expected that he will find it easier to work out a way for our players to fit together.
Arbeloa with minimal Management history has a better record than Alonso, with the same squad.
Some Fans call Slot a fraud for winning the Title with Klopp’s team and yet yearn for Alonso who was sacked for underperforming with an Ancellotti team, with questionably better players who are in their peak.
I personally believe a change of Manager is the only way forward. There is no way Slot can win back the Fanbase, even if he wins the CL. I also believe he has lost the support of some of the players leadership committee.
From a romanticist perspective I would Love Alonso to be our next Manager and oversee a sustained period of success, playing attractive football in the style and manner we associate with. However, I would be very naive to expect it.

Not sure that is correct, a quick google shows that Alonso averaged 2.24 pts per game, Arbeloa 2.17. Xabi 5 losses came over 28 games, Arbeloa’s over 18?

The only problem with that is that you can’t just go and get one.
The new coaching set up FSG put in place prior to Slot was not because they didn’t want another Klopp. It was because they didn’t believe there was another one to go and get.
This is what bugs me. We blew however many hundred million to buff a side that just won the title and it really looks like we need need to do that again.
Pretty much every player that you thought was going to be solid this season has “issues” one way or another.

I think the main reason why the players look like shit as a collective is because the style of play that Slot wants is incoherent. The players have no idea how to press , when to recognise pressing triggers, how to recover after a press fails.
We may have lost Salah, TAA, Nunez, Diaz and Jota for various reasons but that doesn’t absolve the poor coaching and tactics seen for 3/4 of the entire season.
Well, let’s see how it goes…
True but it seems we haven’t found a solution yet to that, 3/4s into the season.
I can see him doing well in the Serie A and Ligue 1 where the pace and physicality of the game is not as pronounced there.
