I mean I know the answer but just for those who dont…why exactly is Ryan suspended?

He got a red card in the final game of last season, so the suspension carries over tot he new season.

I get that, but the way it was written suggested there was something unusual, something that would only apply to an “honest team” about it, but I recall it being a fairly straight forward red.

Second yellow turned to red. Ryan’s first yellow was for a dive. That’s why he’s mentioning it I guess. You have to watch the whole press conference to get a clearer picture of what’s he is talking.

Was it a 2nd Yellow card though, as from memory the ref only pulled out the red card. So technically it was a straight red card despite having been given a yellow earlier wasn’t it?

I have no reason to doubt Slots’ statement, since this entire discussion about fairness is based on it. Actually, the whole thing was about unsportsmanlike conduct.

As I said, for context you might watch the whole thing,

Edit

Actually watching that clip is enough.

First yellow harsh for a dive. We are fouled a lot and don’t exaggerate when it happens. Second yellow means a red, and the suspension for Grav.

He talked about the game against Palace too - foul on Cody not given, led to their goal. Foul on Wirtz not given. Basically saying we play in a very honest way, and other teams go over at the slightest thing, and the ref sees them fall over and gives them free kicks.

It’s a marker from the manager.
Gravenberch is suspended for a match due to a red card, that some consider fair, others will question.

The more important learning is that Slot recognises that players like Rodri, Gordon, Bruno, Saka pull and push and fall over themselves and dive and rarely get punished. Our players are more honest and get less frees, and are punished more than other teams.

@jaffod pointed out in the past the strange statistics that Liverpool have most possession in matches and also most fouls? How is that even possible. Slot looks at this in the Palace game and mentions it.

Klopp was targeted by the refs, because of his vociferous nature on the line. Thats proven.
Slot might raise hackles in a different manner.

Arne: “ and I spoke to Rafa and he said that was only because of Jamie because he couldn’t cover big spaces”

Legend :rofl::rofl::rofl:

This worked then….

Often brought up about calling refs out but it won’t change a thing.

I had an odd dream Arne quit after reading this forum :joy:

But then you offered him your body and he decided to stay?

Yeah, I bet he doesn’t fancy a relegation dogfight.

My dreams are less smutty than yours I believe.

We started last season solid but unspectacular and as the season progressed we morphed into the opposite. This is especially true in the last couple of matches, which bears the question: what has he and his staff been working on?

Because it really looks like the only thing we’ve worked on during the summer is how to attack low blocks more effectively. The only time I recall us being this open and naive in recent memory is under Rodgers and during Klopp’s first years.

Obviously, these aren’t promising signs if we are to defend the title successfully. We look like an assortment of talent, rather than a well-drilled team.

We were quite open throughout Klopp’s tenure to be fair and it looks like that. Last night was really sloppy. The passing was dreadful and the ball would be saved or would go out, it would show a replay and come back to the match and Newcastle had the ball again.

Doubt Slot is teaching them to pass shite.

That’s a few times Arne’s had words with Carra. Can’t work out if it’s friendly banter or he just thinks he’s a prick
