I am really intrigued with what Arne intends to do but 2 up top could well be an option, do we go 3 5 2, stick 4 2 1 3, who knows but we have some great options for flexibility.
A retro 4-4-2 diamond (or 4-3-1-2) is one thing but 3-5-2 seems a bridge too far with our CB cohort. I know Geuhi has played in a 3 but I can’t see us starting 3 of our 4 CBs regularly.
Oooops… Deleted because news already posted
Although it never hurts to hear good news again ![]()
That’s a curse as well.
Former Feyenoord player Cyriel Dessers recalls a time when Arne Slot sat next to him on the team bus after a game and after he’d left him out of the starting XI…
"When I was at Feyenoord, there was a match Arne Slot started with Bryan Linssen instead of me against Heerenveen and I was so disappointed.
"I came on 10 minutes before the end. It was freezing cold, the match was already over, nobody really wanted to go forward. I came on with a really poor attitude because I was so disappointed that I wasn’t allowed to start.
"After the match, Slot sat next to me on the bus. I’ve had managers who got angry in such a situation. But he actually said in a very normal and calm way that he understood how I felt.
"He also explained why he had made his choice. I apologised, he said again that he could imagine my emotions. I walked back to the back of that bus and felt like it was out of my system. I still think back to that one conversation sometimes. There, Arne proved to me that he is not only a good manager, but also a good person.
“I sometimes miss that empathy in football with the media, with the fans too, who sometimes forget that a player is only human. The world of football is hard, sometimes unreasonable. So it’s worth its weight in gold if you have a manager who treats you normally, honestly and with understanding.”
Shows he isn’t some task manager who freezes players out without discussion as some would want us to believe.
Also a good point about players only being human, worth for some fans to acknowledge this before they dump on someone 4 games in.
I was speaking to a fellow red at work yesterday and the image of Arne and his wife standing in from of Diogo’s Anfield memorial came to mind.
They were standing there as though they had lost one of their own children. Very touching.
I’m glad he’s taking these cunts to task. Their partisan agenda is so pathetically veiled that a blind man can see it
Happy birthday, Arne.
This shithead exists just to create these fictitious hateful narratives. Arne didn’t make any insinuations whatsoever.
He is a straight-talking Dutchman just stating plain facts.
Total twat. Ignore.
Slot: Burnley played very well and made it hard for us.
Jordan: Slot thinks Burnley should play shite.
It’s a complete non sequitur. There was a radio show that used to be on in Glasgow which I referred to as the “Bletherin pish aboot fitba” show, in which inebriated Old Firm fans would ramble on, spouting out this kind of bollocks, in between the occasional casual sectarian bigotry.
Apparently, they went on to be actual pundits.
Slot was spot on. He is respectful and honest in his observations on the game. It should be a dream for a pundit. Instead, Simon Jordan is trying to twist it and say Slot is entitled. What a joker. Slot is about as far from that as can be. He is humble, hard working, and respectful.
Yeah, well, it’s TalkTwat radio, isn’t it?
We can’t expect better than that from them, and Jordan’s probably still crying over that 35m he could have had.
