Isn’t that because the higher bands haven’t kept up with earnings?
That is probably a big factor. However, I’m still not sure that it supports @Noo_Noo 's comment above.
I admit I don’t know the data behind this area well so plan to do more reading up on it, but it’s going to be a much more complicated picture than simply saying low/ middle earners are being hammered and higher earners aren’t taxed enough and don’t contribute anything.
Which is true but the counter argument to that is that their assets cannot move. Which brings up an interesting discussion on what assets could be subject to a tax and which would not. And of course selling etc coukd also happen.
Fascinating, and it shows how important the actual numbers are in evaluating any such policy. I think @RedWhippet is right though, the brackets dont fit earnings as well these days. Percentages are fine but the earned figures should also sit alongside it. That 41% may not reveal the entire picture for example.
The elephant in the room is capital gains as well. The change in that rate hasnt changed massively over the years but the sums being earned have.
So when they arrive in the UK by boat, are they illegal?
Stop the Big Boats!
I prefer “spend your money and f*** off”
It seems that this guy won’t stop before he has destroyed everything which is beautiful and worthy of protection.
He’s not the only one unfortunately, but still… he’s a freaking c*nt.
His fixation on Mars really frustrates me. If he were doing all this to enhance energy production and moving heavy industry into space I’d be right behind him. But this is spoilt c*nt shit.
The same could be said of the oil cunts buying football clubs. If they were investing in grass roots football in their own countries, or even in poorer countries that don’t have a lot of facilities, I would find it commendable. As it is they are just playing FIFA in cheat mode with real clubs and real money.
Billionaires could choose to spend their wealth on healthcare, education, libraries or scientific research. As it is, most spend their money on expensive tat and boys toys.
It’s depressing, isn’t it? These guys could change the face of the world for the better, and yet, a vast majority of them chose not only to keep it as it is (that would be understandable from their point of view) but to push us all towards the edge of collective destruction.
To be fair, some of them do, Mackenzie Scott or Bill Gates for example, but they don’t get the publicity.
Quite the opposite for Bill Gates. He has been absolutely hammered by various groups including anti vaxers. I swear the film Idiocracy should be viewed as a documentary.
Yeah, that’s why I wrote: a vast majority of them.
