“Everybody was really surprised that Vincent Kompany was standing there with his black jacket in the pouring rain of Munich on Wednesday night against Arsenal.”

I thought it was a bit odd (stupid) that he was there.

Presumably, the Reichstag has a sprinkler system these days?

Wonderful new law in Italy :clap::clap::clap::clap:

There’s a new crime of violent participation in a protest - throwing firecrackers or stones can get you five years in prison – and young people aged 14 to 18 can now be held criminally responsible.

Police can also detain them preventatively if they suspect they pose a threat.

On top of that is the “break it, and pay” law: smash up a bus stop or a shop, for example, and you can be held liable for the damage. Under 18? Then the bill goes to your parents

They will find something, they always do!
Often quite legit,too.

Laws are great. However the reality of whether they get enforced is another issue. Law enforcements in parts of the west are almost seen to be evil. if they don’t stop the bad actors, they are shite and a waste of money. If they do, they are trampling the civil rights of expression of frustration. The government needs to do better to provide more carrots for the people, that’s agreed and important but the people also need to agree that unfortunately, sticks have to be handed out strictly for a society to run smoothly without these actors who have hidden agendas to cause chaos

Two high speed trains have crashed in Spain. So far 39 deaths reported amongst 400 passengers:

It is looking increasingly bleak for 1000s of jobs.

It sounds rather strange, as the only party activity interested in closure are the current owners.

yeah and they only recently took over control (iirc). There has to be some sort of financial benefit to them putting it into administration but it is beyond me. Turning down offers for purchase on the face of it seems ludicrous.

That smells like the underlying real estate is worth more than the entity, but might have some restrictive covenants

That makes sense. My brain hadn’t thought of any bricks and mortar. I did find it amusing that a £30million loan was sold for £1 though.

Having read a bit more, it sounds that way. They have contacted other retailers about selling on the retail space.

It will most likely be £1 plus debt

Yes, the reports over the last week or two has suggested lots of interest by different companies in individual bits of the estate, with i think only one bidder looking to buy the whole business.

I imagine the brand has little value these days.

Usually in Poundland it is each item is £1 plus price of the bag. Similar kind of deal. Bag is £45, please, sir.

Yeah the brand is now worthless really due to the fact that very little in their stores actually costs £1 anymore. They used to be crackin shops but like a lot of independent frozen food places, too, they become victims of the economic climate. It is not financially viable.
