Taliban are closing the noose around the last exit from Afghanistan. anyone who is still in that country and holding a NATO passport had better disappear really quickly. this is going to get ugly.

What is the world waiting for? Get troops on the floor, get control, expand the secure zone, get everyone out who wants out and then leave. If the Taliban resist pay them off.

What an absolute horror show.

because the idiots pulled the troops out before the civilians they’re supposed to be securing… Now the only means to land any sizable force is being over-run, it’s going to be a shitshow if they end up having to return.

it’s their own fault, anyways.

If they do that, we’ll have to invade. Again. Wasn’t the first one 1820?

Every female in the country too. Rounding up every girl over 13 makes even me want to load an AK47.

I’ve no idea bud. I only know that the state of that area hasn’t improved much being in a constant state of conflict for far too long.

The only common thing has been their twisted interpretation of a backwards religion.

Their elite Red/Blood Band troops stands 2 meters from US soldiers at the airport and talk and discuss gate security with them. This is not a Taliban attack. There is zero reason for them to bomb their own and civilians. As for the noose, it was closed long ago.
Nothing much will happen now. The evacuation will continue and the US will cooperate with the Taliban. This is another jihadists group, likely ISIS-K. The Taliban will hunt them now. Belive it or not, the Taliban is the security forces in control and the US cooperates with them. CIA chief even visited the leadership of the Taliban not long ago…

Or is it an attack backed by the Taliban since they control all the checkpoints are are in control of the city and country and are as such responsible for the security and safety?

I believe you. it’s just a sad state of affairs when there are people still filled with so much hate over a religious text that they sacrifice themselves to kill others.

Brainwashing of the highest calibre, likely of some poor kid who thinks the promise of afterlife for a martyr is real.

Why would they attack their own checkpoint ? And what possible reason would they have to attack mostly civilians at the Taliban check point ? There is no such reason. Their interest is that NATO withdraws asap. They have no interest in attacking the US military when the US military cooperates with them.
Besides, there was known Intel on this attack from yesterday. And ISIS-K is a known actor and factor.

In any case, just reported that there is Intel on a new incomming attack.

exactly. I find it difficult to believe that this group suddenly has developed a sense of morality and justice in line with the rest of the world. This is a free final kick in the ass to those who are trying to escape hell before that country turns into another Iraq.

It really bothers me that a terrorist organization is going to have control of an entire country, and have been recognized as such. it’s a sad time of regression in world politics.

And the scary part is they have always been chumy and pals with the Pakistan Military and Security Service. If they turn on Pakistan then they could potentially get their hands on nuclear weapons

  • Utenriksministeren: - Veldig dramatisk situasjon

Shitty Google Translate:
Minister of Foreign Affairs: - Very dramatic situation

"- There is a very dramatic situation around the airport now, we strongly condemn this attack on civilians, says Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide to TV2.

The Norwegian citizens who are still trapped in Afghanistan have now received a discouraging message from the Norwegian authorities:

- We no longer have the opportunity to offer assisted departure, because now the gates to the airport are closed and it is not possible to get people in, says Søreide.

  • As many Norwegians as possible in Kabul do not get help from Norway to get here? asks TV2.

  • We have had and evacuation operation going on now for two weeks. We have managed to help a lot of people, but at the same time we have been clear, for several days now, that the time window for evacuation is getting smaller and smaller. And that the risk at and around the airport is very great, says Søreide.

There has just been a plane that have taken off from Kabul with more than 100 people, she says."

I read this (crisis meeting in Norwegian government just over, and this was the important bits from the press conference) as the withdrawal will be rushed. That the evacuations are basically over. Because this has of course been coordinated with the US. Maybe the US will continue evacuations, maybe. But perhaps not indeed. Because they can no longer guarantee Force Protection for the Norwegian Military hospital at the airport and there are intelligence reports of another incoming terror attack.

So…I think it is over now. But maybe the US will continue for a couple of days more, though this would be mildly surprising as they have closed the airport…

Bits in bold are bold because I wanted them to be bold.

Edit: The Norwegian field hospital will continue to be operational. Makes sense, as field hospitals are kind of crucial when there are military presence there still.

High quality source (pro Taliban but highly reliable when it comes to reporting facts on the ground):

https://twitter.com/RisboLensky/status/1430938377793200132 (minor salt, but plausible)

So in addition to the civilian carnage and unknown but high number of dead, 4 US marines slain.

Condolences to Americans and Afghans and everyone else involved in the blasts.

Also worth noting, as I have said before, there is additional info on another incoming threat.

Substantial US losses now that the fog has lifted. Again, condolances to everyone touched by this.

Also reports that US supported Afghan troops in the airport are busy blowing up equipment. Earlier reports of SVBIED were wrong, it was a lone suicide bomber as far as I understand now. But details still open to being edited with more information incoming.

It feels kind of wrong posting this now, but for those who are interested, then you may take a look at what the Taliban “liberated” from the Afghan government. Large pallets of US dollars.Looks to be, I don’t know, but a hell of a lot of money for sure.

Reports that US supported Afghan unit are demolishing their equipment on the airport, using explosives, however, also several reports of several other blasts in Kabul.
Picture is unclear. I don’t actually know what is happening in detail, just that many people report explosions and we already know that NATO expects more ISIS-Khurasan attacks etc.

Murad is from RT, an experienced conflict reporter who has been both in Syria and Armenia (reporting from a Russian POV naturally).

Also, now I can’t post anymore. I hit the limit of posts that can be written after each other. The so called spam filter I suppose (this is also the reason why this last post is all over the place when it comes to content).

Edit to the edit:

According to various Afghans, there is a fire fight going on between the Taliban and ISIS in Kabul. Lots of explosions and gun fire. No one really knows what most of the explosions are (well, probably someone, but not me), as the situation is fluid and hard to decipher correctly. Lots of assumptions, not so much facts, being peddled around on the webs.

Also, many have posted a video of aftermath of the blast. I simply won’t post it, but I have seen it and it is strong scenes. It is terrible and it is enough to describe it as stacks of corpses and wounded in the canal ditch, some living, many dead, all wounded. It is not something I am comfortable posting on a public forum as I am sure many would find it terrible that such a scene had been posted. It is just a scene of shock and misery. But if you really want to put human faces on scenes of tragedy, then it is easy enough to find for those who know where to look.

Anyway, very chaotic situation in Kabul tonight. Explosions and much gunfire.

Even more edits due to the horrific spam controller:

Just basically noting what is said in the Amaq press release (Amaq is the ISIS newspaper on the internet for those who don’t know).

I don’t know where to put this.

Forget the Afghan people who helped you out for many years; let’s just focus on saving the military equipment and medical supplies. :man_shrugging:
