She’s not a Bangladeshi citizen. She was born in the UK. Her mom was/is a Bangladeshi citizen but that doesn’t automatically pass on the citizenship to her
This has been Bangladesh response.
So Bangladesh is a no no , and Britain won’t take her back. Presumably then she’s destined to see out her life in a refugee camp in war torn Syria. There might be many who’d argue that’s all she deserves , but why are we the only country refusing to repatriate our citizens when we are clearly obliged to. This is just another example of a lack of humanity being worn like a badge of honour by a government seemingly determined to bestow upon the country the status of rogue state.
Daresay the UK govt thought she’d get herself killed so that they could avoid this.
The UK is far from the only country. There were two court decisions (the Crown lost both) just last month in Canada with ordered repatriation. There are similar cases in the US.
Note, Bangladesh is a no no only because of the legal consequences of her actions, which ironically are closer to the Sharia law she was so eager to live under. it is not at all clear that those are relevant to the ability of the UK to strip her citizenship - ‘de facto stateless’ is not a real legal category, but an invention of her lawyers.
I was really talking about European countries. I should have made that clear.
If the UK wants to take her back, then they need to have a program or plan to counsel and reform these offenders. Because putting her in a normal prison will just endanger further if she ends up influencing other prisoners. Is there such programs? With the amount of religious fanatism around the world, I will be surprised if there is none.
Malaysia and Indonesia will not do more. There are certain places in Indonesia that are run by the local religious leaders with government pretty much helpless.
In Singapore we are always aware of the race and religious politics they play over there, because of a racial majority, they use the race, which happens to belong to a major religion, to win votes. While in Singapore, the racial makeup is the direct opposite yet we had try to ensure that its a Singapore for Singaporean not just for a certain race especially the Chinese which is 70%. But then because the Malays will see how preferred the Malays are treated in Malaysia and coupled that there are some quarters which believes that Singapore is Malay land, yoy get the mumblings that we get. And just last year, one of the most respected politicians in Malaysia say Malaysia should try to take back Singapore since its Malay land. We are so used to such rhetoric and had such racial riots in the past that I am glad our government takes a both preventive approach and politically takes a very non offensive one. And also fortunately most of us in Singapore regardless of race understand that only with peace, all of us can live a good and safe life for our families.
Uk wasn’t the only one. Australia refused to repatriate one earlier as well … the woman in question was then allowed to come back to NZ as she had dual citizenship.
We have them too those ‘nice’ ladies who thought the caliphate was paradise and spit on the Netherlands.
Now they are in a prison camp they are begging to come back. Too bad our government granted the request they will go to trial and have their day in court in the country they spit on.
I would have left them where they were.
my favorite architect designed this house, what a beauty. 1000% overpriced because of his name, but you just can’t buy these locations anymore.
It’s really nice … apart from the kitchen !
Agree.
That kitchen looks way to confused to be practical in that photo.
It made me angry. The kitchen is for me the most important room in the house
you got angry over a house? wow.
this is my favorite of FLW’s homes. https://fallingwater.org/
This is scary….what on earth?
40,000 inmates !
They can’t keep them shackled all the time. They’ll just take over the prison once they’re out of the restraints.
Is it really Earth anymore…?
This looks horrific!
Those tattoos look scary too.
