First blood to Dortmund after what’s mostly been early Bayern pressure, free kick from Svensson and a lovely glancing header from Schlotterbeck. Didn’t look as if he was one of the players off…stands, checked and cleares with minimal fuss.

As expected, the 36 professional clubs have decided to introduce their own U21 league starting in the 2026/27 season. This is intended to further professionalize talent development in German football.
The first and second division clubs passed the resolution unanimously at the German Football League’s (DFL) general meeting in Düsseldorf.
The new competition is a voluntary, additional offering for all Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs and complements the existing league system, from which reserve teams of professional clubs will not have to be separated. Participation is intended for players in the transition phase between the U17 and U21 age groups.
