Carrick On Up The Khyber! It's the Manchester Untied thread

He appears to need a really well-oiled machine to be viable as a manager. Didn’t take Leverkusen long to figure out they had made a colossal mistake.

Rangnick wanted the club to sign Diaz , Haaland and someone else.

It’s going to be Howe or Southgate and I’m praying like hell they go with Southgate.

Conte first.

He’ll gut half the youngsters out. Get overpaid ageing players on long contracts and get himself fired within 11 months.

They had the chance in rangnick to fix up the mess with transfers.

Rangnick wasn’t a football manager by then but he was really hired for becoming the director of football after 6 months of being an interim manager. That would have given him unique insight on how shit United really were.

They got in ETH and ETH proceeded to turn down rangnicks recommendation and services. The one time they fluked into the right decision, they ended up shooting themselves in the foot 6 months later

Don’t forget Luke Shaw had a consistent season as well.

I’m not saying Biscuits is any good, but some stability in defence is worth a lot. At the moment they’re forced to play the tea lady at LB.

Fabregas asked for his players to slow down in the last 10 minutes or so and that’s what led to zirkzee scoring that one goal.

It could very well have been a 5-0 hammering.

I don’t see Serie A often enough but the matches that I do see (bits and parts) over the entire season are entertaining. Different styles of football there.

I think people are confused looking at the Italian national team being well below par and equating that to the serie A league as such.

The top 6-7 teams in the serie A are strong teams in their own right. The PL has more money and has better players but tactics and style of football wise , the Italian game has much more variety.

Most of the teams/coaches in England have adopted elements from the Guardiola , Klopp playbook by now. Atleast sides in the top 14. There will be the odd sides who play 3 at the back but it’s not as if Xabi isn’t about high pressing etc.

The Italian league has teams setup in various styles. And a lot of the stylistic clashes there do make for very entertaining football. Particularly for a neutral.

Given Bruno’s little outburst, it should just be “The Manchester United Thread”, because that’s the joke.

Yeah, that’s the beauty of the thing. As long as the ownership remains unchanged, things will probably go on like that, no matter who the manager is. We had our fair share of mediocrity ourselves when Moores was the owner, despite magnificent managers coming in and doing what they could. g+h made it worse of course, and it needed long and hard work from fsg to create the basis of our run of trophies under Kloppo.

So, let’s hope that the current owners stay a long time yet at that club, for more mediocrity to come. :crossed_fingers:

Edit: the result made me really interested in Fabregas though. He seems to be a gem of a manager.

The worst thing about last season for me was , because of our utter shitness , it was just too much of a struggle to summon the enthusiasm to come in here and laugh at these clowns.

Happy days are here again.

Rentamouth Carragher strikes again…

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, speaking as a pundit on broadcaster CBS Sports, described the post-match comments of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as “a disgrace”:

"We said Lisandro Martinez was bang out of order last week for calling out the hierarchy above him and for Bruno Fernandes to do that is a disgrace really.

"Last season he got ‘player of the year’. That was on the back of Michael Carrick becoming manager.

"He wouldn’t have got that reward without Michael Carrick because Carrick put him back in his rightful position and he then went on to have a fantastic season because he’s a talented footballer.

"In terms of attitude and the way he goes about things, it’s not right at all. He’s reacted like that because he’s been been brought off. He’s embarrassed by the manager and he’s brought him off.

Did carra and carrick play for England together ?

Anyway. That’s beside the point

A club captain can’t be throwing his coach under the bus. That’s not done.

Another thing that bruno over his history has run around like a headless chicken without the ball and has only come into the picture when the opponents got caught on the counter.

Baleba who most of us wanted proved to be lacking when there’s no good coach to maximize the best of him.

At this point , and it will be to slot as well. The incoming coach can’t aim to drastically change the player. We bought people for the klopp model , slot wanted to turn into a possession model. Worked out in year 1 but not in year 2.
