United manager cycle.

  1. United appoint Former player who understands United, appointed as interim, and given a contract after period of moderate success. Mates with Gary Neville. Inevitably looks out of his depths as soon as the ink is dry on his permanent contract.

  2. After it is perceived that the players have been indulged by an overly familiar big brother style manager, United appoint an older disciplinarian to make these fuckers run about a bit. Generally has a good first few months before tailing off as the players realise they will be around long after he’s been given the boot.

  3. United now turn to a young exciting upcoming manager, who they think is ready for a crack at a top job and beat several big clubs to his signature, despite there being little evidence they were ever interested. Young, upcoming manager works to a very specific tactical blueprint, however United can’t afford a page one rebuild and expect him to adapt to the players he has. Looking to rebuild his reputation at a mid level Italian club within six months.

i.e. he’s a bad apple who thinks he knows best on tactics and undermined the manager

No gorm?

What is fascinating about Bruno is the raw stats show a player with a high work rate, but its very difficult to see it. We saw Ozil suffer this reputational damage for being lazy despite always being one of the most active players on any team he played for, and we see it repeatedly with Wirtz as well. But with Bruno it feels different. It feels less like he’s putting in the miles that the casual eye just doesnt catch, but more that he’s consciously trying to look busy without wanting to do the work. Its like someone in your office who is gaming some metric he knows he’ll be evaluated against but doesnt want to do the work the metric is supposed to measure performance of.

I used to play rugby with a guy who as an openside flanker was always first to the breakdown. It felt like such a cheat code to have a guy like that on your team, but you shortly realized that he just never did anything when he got there. That’s what a lot of Bruno’s running feels like…he’s run 50 yards to avoid making a tackle.

I fecking LOVE all the chatter I’m seeing from the “Top Reds”…

Bruno was right. He just said what we’re all thinking!!

As a leader he’s not a pimple on someone like Hendo’s arse. That they STILL CANNOT SEE THIS is fucking brilliant.

Missed a bit about Man Utd DNA.

Yeah, but Bruno runs properly so has to be better than Hendo!

That’s what I said, isn’t it?

Pfft.

Michael Carrick is now in peril, but Manchester United’s problems run so much deeper

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also hugely culpable, with his unique brand of management guiding much of what happens at Carrington, where he once entered a physio room and offered his opinion on stretching methods having run the London Marathon.
