Championship and Football League

That was my comment above re-Rooney’s assurances - that tax bill is a serious disincentive for anyone to invest in what looks like a League One club soon, and HRMC has a history of refusing to take haircuts until the liquidation process compels them to do so.

I’d be very surprised if they survive, do they own the ground?

No - one of the offences that got them in trouble was the sale of Pride Park to another company controlled by Morris, specifically the inflated valuation, though as I recollect that particular charge was dismissed. But the upshot is the ground is leased back to the club, so the lease is an asset of sorts, but not real property.

Suppose a Phoenix club at least could benefit from that, no saleable assests mind it sounds like they are fucked.

Kind of expect it to happen after Covid.

Given the nature of the transaction, I don’t expect HRMC to make life easy for Morris. I am not sure if he just ran out of rope, or is being extremely cynical, but there was no way anyone was going to buy that club without the ground but with the debt.

Considering the rich history of that club, it would be a sad milestone in English football.

Yeah wouldn’t it be the first post war league winners to go?

*Be first Top flight Champions actually I had a feeling Blackburn Olympic had won it but they didn’t that was the cup.

Darwin were also confusing me but they were top flight for about 10 years

Bournemouth ahead.

Not sure how Fulham have not scored but Travers is actually showing decent golkeeeping here. Very impressive.

And they do finally score, have to say it’s a brilliant atmosphere, Bournemouth were too set back mind was a bit silly.

Wasn’t Barnsley in the promotion play-off last season? Woohoo, that’s a steep fall.

More of a regression to the expected mean, last season was lightning in a bottle, one of the smallest budgets in the CH, very young team. They were not far off relegation the season before, and had come up from League One.

Oldham 5-5 Forest Green in League 2 today. Not often you see that result.

The Championship has opened up massively with the gap between 1-4 now 6pts.

Glad to see Blackburn in there after the way they managed and brought on Harvey last year.

Another classic goal in the Championship…This time for Derby.

Reminded me of Alisson against Villa in the second half, thankfully that didn’t go in, this did.

Solanke scores again.

Reading 0-7 Fulham. Two goals + two assists for Wilson.

I didn’t realise Chelsea still own Danny Drinkwater. He must be rinsing the silly cunts.

Great week to be a Reading fan…:grimacing:

Solanke going down the Kane route of progression…

:joy:

Blackburn up to 2nd place level on point with Bournemouth in 1st position.

Grumpy fuck off Luton

Did Blackburn make any major changes in squad or coaching staffs? Last season they were average, this season they look good to get promotion.

Really difficult to see how Derby get past this. A lot of hope being pinned on the Carlisle bid, but it seems very unlikely to me that they will execute a transaction with a couple of sweeteners to get various parties to come to the table, when they can just dare the EFL to kill the club or force its members to take the same haircut as the tax man - I am actually surprised that there is a suggestion HMRC would contemplate that.
