China - the irresistible rise

Absolutely agree with this, apart from that it’s not an excuse for the current generation to do nothing about it. But it’s a fact that the following generations will have to deal with a comparatively tougher start than us, and even more, than our parents. It’s not nice, but here goes…

Human nature encompasses a lot of things, going from the worst to the best (gothic cathedrals, Shakespeare, Da Vinci, Bach, the sixtine chapel).

Also, I think that human nature acts most efficiently when under real pressure (someone once said that in order to accomplish great things, you need two things: a clear vision and not enough time… even though it was said in jest, it still holds a lot of truth imo).

As said above, we and the generations to come will have to clean up the mess left behind by the older ones, under massive pressure for our own survival. But I think that this will force us and them to reinvent a sounder and more sustainable way of living. Fingers crossed!

Ironically you just confirmed my post above

‘If we can’t fix it then they won’t’

Human nature is a pretty extraordinary thing to be honest, I think there’s enough good in the population to eventually overturn this cynicism that runs through current established bastions of power.

Let me spin it another way… imagine, just for a second, a majority of the population that could see right through the Murdoch press.

I know you’ll scoffat the mere thought of people thinking for themselves… but I can tell you there’s a rising groundswell that is sick of the lies…

Better still, what hope says… once it gets to the point of having to be fixed, it will finally start to get worked on… no more lobby groups muddying the waters of facts…

Sounds great. So what’s the plan?

fucked if i know!

You can be sure that the Chinese Communist Party has a plan

Chloe Zhao was born in Beijing, but news of her historic Oscar win is being suppressed by the authorities in China because she was once critical of the regime. The paranoia of the CCP is unbelievable.

That’s how regimes like this consolidate and retain their power. A billion and more Chinese controlled by a relative handful who call the shots. Not the first, won’t be the last.

Not really. UK artists are free to voice discontent without being censored.

But this is not any old tin pot dictatorship. This country could well run the world by the middle of the century. If that’s not a reason for concern I don’t know what to say.

If it’s any consolation, no power in the time memorial have dominated the world. Genghis Khan, Huns, Napoleon, Romans, Ottomans, Conquistadors, British Empire, Colonial Powers, none.

That’s not much comfort if you’re living under their rule.

The world has never been this interconnected and the US has pretty much dominated the world since the second world war even if it hasn’t had everything its own way.

The irresistible rise. There was a lot of fuss about the US Mars landing in the West, but not much mention of this.

At what point do we just seal off China?!

I’m not a conspiracy theorist. But I have a nagging fear that just won’t go away. Did China used the Uighurs, at least those in camps, to test their vaccine???

What have the Chinese done with the unfortunate recipient, shot him maybe?

Likely since its not human transmissible. If it is, they would have send him to Europe and the US.

It seems that the Chinese government has cottoned on to the fact that the country is in need of rebranding

Not imprisoning and enslaving entire populations within their realm would be a good start, as well as working towards more democracy and transparency.

They have a tiny little bit work to do there.
