CL Pre Game incident news/clarifications

Erm … young Algerians and asylum seekers is not the same thing as Algerian immigrants.

The young Algerians I talk about are third generation French citizens (which I’ve already stated and which we talk about later in the thread ) and asylum seekers are neither immigrants (yet) nor exclusively Algerian .

TBH it doesn’t really make any difference. The problem with bringing their ethnic identity into it, is that this is the angle that some of the less savoury elements of French politics are trying to take - it was all the fault of an ethnic minority population and nothing to do with dysfunctional organisation. I suspect some in government and UEFA will be happy to take that approach.

The problem for us is that it does nothing to get to the root of the problem and some other clubs fans will have to put up with this kind of crap in the future (and I’ve heard from quite a few United and Arsenal fans that have had this kind of unprovoked crap in the past). Also, I suspect no one on these forums or the club in general want to have any truck with Le Pen and the like.

The editorial in Libération doesn’t pull it’s punches:

I completely agree with you , but at the risk of repeating myself , we shouldn’t be afraid to speak the truth for fear of inflaming racist rhetoric (Le Pen and her cohorts will do that regardless) . I was only reporting what had been observed by those who knew.

How are they Algerian then?

ffs , you’re just being obtuse now.

Or perhaps you’re just trying to avoid confirming you were describing them as Algerian immigrants?

I’m not about to confirm anything I didn’t say.

Let’s call them thugs, low lives, scum because that is what they are.

Apparently Robbo was giving out fake tickets too. Utter disgrace (apologies for using and Everton word) is the only way I can describe it.

It’s not about being afraid to speak the truth. It’s about seeing the bigger picture and being aware of how these messages that we put out affect the achievement of our goals, and whether it has any collateral damage.

Interior Ministry saying that French police have been referred to the watchdog for excessive use of force.

Edit : Looks like Darmanin and the sports minister are maintaining the fiction of 30,000 Liverpool fans turning up with counterfeit tickets.

:man_facepalming: Effing moron.

It’s 50000, i.e 70000 all trying to squeeze into the space for 20000. It’s rediculous.
The only way to produce that number of fake tickets is at source.

It’s the latest angle.
The thing is they have to show the fan parks and big screen areas were void of LFC fans as they must all have been at the SdF with false tickets.
This is the main point the numbers don’t add up anywhere and there’s a big media vs interior minister over it.

Bravo

@realmadrid

for this 14th title in #LigueDesChampions ! The attempts of intrusion and fraud by thousands of English fans have complicated the work of stewards and police forces but will not tarnish this victory. Violence has no place in the stadiums.

WTF.
