Climate Catastrophe

Gees you started this by claiming dam removal made it worse.

Thats not true is it? Dam removal has not made it worse.

However, are there other factors on top of the extreme rainfall that made it the catastrophe it is?

Yes, the Rambla del Poyo gorge.

It’s sad that people knew of the risk it posed in an extreme weather event and plans were being developed, but obviously all too late.

This is factual stuff, not opinion. It’s engineer stuff.

If we’re just philosophizing rather than dealing with the actual matter at hand, I would counter that it is a problem that such a large group of people are so quick to calibrate themselves to the middle point of any discussion with no attempt made to evaluate the merits of the argument. Ignoring my personal distaste with the smugness so many people have in doing this, thinking that is morally superior to people who actually know stuff and use that to position themselves closer to one of the respective arguments, this reflex is something the enables bad faith actors to pervert discussions with terrible arguments designed only to move the middle of the debate.

Happy for you to point out where I claimed anything.
I commented that there were articles claiming and dismissing it.

You, as usual, jumped in with both feet, making assumptions.

There you go. You then said that both are possible. All I’ve done is disagreed with your claim on some mysterious middle ground. They either did or didn’t contribute. They didnt.

So its not jumping in and making assumptions. It’s correcting your BS.

Stop making shit up.
That in no way is me claiming dam removal made the floods worse.

Ive edited the comment. Read it again.

Edit all you want, I’ve “claimed” nothing.

Fuck me, you’ve claimed there’s middle ground on something when there isnt. You also claimed that I have jumped to one extreme because it fits some strange opinion i have formed in a pretty underhand comment.

Thats a lot of claims for someone not claiming anything. Do you work in insurance?

you mean this?

That’s an observation, not me claiming dam removal contributed to flooding.

Fuck me, if this carries on any longer you’ll be blaming me for the fucking floods.

I’m done responding to you, bore off

Look what Trump has done to us, the fat orange cunt.

And the less said about @cynicaloldgit the better.

So its a general observation now, not actually on the topic being discussed. Righto.

Otherwise, stop being daft and angry man on internet.

Well worth a read.

I’ve come to the conclusion that if the entire US was battered for a month by cat 5 hurricanes the deniers still wouldn’t connect the dots.

Surely that would be God showing his anger at the fact that they elected Trump…

Hurricanes hitting the US are starting to enter the same ‘thoughts and prayers’ category as school shootings. The causal link seems pretty clear, but the policy to do nothing to improve the situation remains entrenched.
