More likely a warm spot over Siberia or Svalbard
Yep, colder than a witches tit!
I see this claim from Climate deniers stating the poles are colder than they have been in numerous years.
Is this true, and how does this account for the loss of sea ice?
Iâd love to be able to challenge some of these lunatics.
There is a factual basis for it, but it is a really distorted take. Loss of sea ice is incredible in terms of the sheer mass. The averages are warmer, but the variance has increased massively. If you take a look at the weather data for Alert (Canadaâs northernmost military base and continuously occupied settlement), which is on Ellesmere Island and well out of the warming current that affects Svalbard, the data is pretty clear. The extreme colds by month are all 40+ years ago. The fact that those observations are pointing to are the oddity that the number of days where there is an observed temperature below zero has increased significantly - the historical range was 225-275 until 1999, every year since has seen 300+. Similarly, the number of heating degree days is higher. However, the summer warms have increased significantly as well.
Where it becomes unequivocal are the sea temperature measurements.

TLDR - newspapers are responding to decreasing revenue by being bought by powerful energy companies to smear people wanting to move to cleaner, more renewable energy infrastructure in the guise of being real news.
This is horrifying, but Iâm not surprised.
In Florida we have one of the major electricity companies literally fronting up ghost candidates for elections to strategically siphon off votes from candidates they think wont be friendly to them.

Treebeard ?
Climate activist Greta Thunberg has slapped down controversial influencer Andrew Tate after he boasted about owning numerous supercars.
The teenager turned the tables on the 36-year-old former kickboxer when he tried to troll her on Twitter about the âenormous emissionsâ he was responsible for.
Thunberg, 19, questioned his confidence and suggested he had âsmall d**k energyâ when he listed some of the 33 cars he owned and asked for her email to send a list.
She tweeted: âyes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalld**kenergy@getalife.comâ.
A good piece on the disinformation projects being used to oppose moves away from traditional fossil fuels.
Pffftt.
NO MORE OIL!!!
Just watching the video now, and about 4 minutes in, already sounds like a fossil fuel lobbyist rather than someone making an actual analytical comparison.
The comments themselves already show how much she gets wrong.
I am really not a fan of EVs, not least because of the limitations of batteries related to materials. But that video is laughably terrible. She wants a full accounting of all the externalities (âall the stuff that happens in neighbouring countriesâ) without even thinking of doing so for fossil fuels. Goes through a long list of the rare metals used in EVs (including some which are not, by and large), without doing the same for ICE vehicles.
There is life-cycle analysis, and then there is waving your hands at the idea as a means for a slipshod justification of a conclusion you already wanted to reach. You can find plenty of examples of it that are pro-EV (Tesla alone has cranked out hundreds), this one is the reverse.
All in all, a perfect example of why âdo your own researchâ should never, ever involve Youtube.
Even if you know nothing about the material you should be able to identify the rhetorical tricks used to obfuscate and confuse and have your spidey senses piqued.
Is it relevant to raise geopolitics as an issue in how the raw material for an industry will be sourced? Sure. But using that in argument supposedly undercuting the claims they are greener is exactly what you do when you dont have a strong argument to make your case.
âOh, and no body is talking about that, are theyââŠexcept for all the people taking the issue of paradigm shifts towards renewable energy seriously.
10 tricks your doctor doesnt want you to know
Not true. Itâs great for learning how to bake that perfect soufflĂ© or for learning how to change your headlight bulb, be your car EV or ICE.
CHINA, âŠ
Or for learning how to change basically all bike parts.
