I think there has come a point in the last months, when Jurgen has had to finally decide what system we going to play for the next few seasons, and therefore what type of team we are to evolve into. Moving for, and paying out the funds in signing players to play one particular role, in one particular system, means it then becomes too late for him to change his mind… we don’t want to end up with square pegs/round holes scenario. The players that arrive in the summer, will be the biggest indication yet, of the style of team we will be watching for the next few seasons… We couldn’t wait forever for Bellingham, because the team, or certain factions of it was coming apart at the seams this season…
I am just glad that a picture will soon be emerging of Jurgens Dream Team Mk2, is not a million miles away anymore…
Lets go for something the Cheaters will never do. Lets get 114pts next season :0)
This guy is generally one of the players who has impressed me this last period.
Didn’t have much hope after the first few games and hadn’t a clue why we bought him but he might be one of those signings you buy at random that delivers for years to come, looking forward to seeing a full season.
It is a strange signing in someways. He was available last summer and we didnt hear a peep of interest from us - Instead we bulldozed through a deal for Nunez.
Was it because he was definitely Utd bound until they screwed it up late in the window?
I say strange because Klopp’s comments after we signed him was that we moved early because we thought another party would sign him…yet Utd were all over him in the summer and linked again in the winter…
I wonder if it was because of Nunez’s struggle or only because a decision had then been made on Bobby?
Either way, it’s proving a good deal.
Yeah, Klopp and his team saw him in the Firmino role. I for sure never did but I am glad he is doing well.
He has ended this season with 20 goals and 20 assists in 50 club games (for PSV and Liverpool). And had a WC in between.
7 goals and 3 assists in 26 for us.
The start of this thread is a good read. He played like three games and was written off as a disgusting waste of time and space.
Glad we have him, quality player.
Gakpo was born in Eindhoven in 1999 as the son of a Dutch mother and a Togolese father.
Never knew he had a Togolese father. I assumed he had Surinam roots.
He qualified to play for Togo and Ghana through his dad.
He’s been brilliant since about a month at the club. He’s going to be a world class player, there’s something about him that’s a bit special.
