Wolves level talent.

Wolves actually recruit very very well. Look at Jota (RIP), Nunes, Neto.
Gakpo’s regression has been shocking. He was so much better and productive when he started and also last season. It’s got to be the tactics and setup. Lack of sharpness isn’t helping and that’s down to fitness training. That’s affecting all players.
He hasn’t regressed much.
He’s always been a stat padder/fairweather footballer. He just isn’t very good and never has been.
Who’s gonna buy him off us in this state
My feeling is certain players are being encouraged to repeat their ‘bad habits’ by the manager.
VVD, Gakpo and Gravenberch namely. It’s killing the team spirit and ethos but their you go.
I don’t mind him not using the overlap in all of those situations. I saw an absolutely needless overlap by Kerkez near the end last night to offer support to Ngumoha (who was relatively wide enough), when the space was actually elsewhere. So… yeah, it depends.
It’s not one or the other it’s about taking the best option as often as possible not once in a blue moon.
Runs can be used to create space it’s not binary.
Gakpo always had the tendency to play head down, but he was never this bad. Slot has done nothing to minimize his weaknesses.
Quite the contrary.
Bayern Munich hopefully ![]()
Even Salah is jumping about in frustration signalling for the big giraffe to move out the way.
A lightweight player if ever there was one…
That was a great pass for Mo, hands down. Good bit of pressure before and Everton ended up a bit too open (was surprised how often the central pass was on against them on the day, quite a few found a red shirt), but the players still had to execute it and they did.
But 14 goal involvements in 47 so far is definitely not good enough. Last season he was on 24 in 49.
His numbers may have knocked his value a bit, but I still wonder whether he’s one of our few saleable assets this summer as we look to rebuild. According to Capology, he’s our highest paid player aged under 30 — not quite sure why.
Bearing in mind we will probably need to buy 2/3 attacking players minimum this summer, and he signed a new contract only last year, they’ll probably choose to keep him. I just think there are better, less expensive players out there that could do a job for us.
