Curtis JONES: 2024/25

Szob helps Trent more and he was missed sorely in that respect, plus he has more pace and stretches teams when he runs with the ball

Yep definitely part of the way we play, but Curtis needs to be able to get his head up take 1 or 2 touches more often just like Macca was doing, then those converging on Curtis are taken out of the next phase of play.

I really like what Jones had been producing this season. Seems to know what Slot wants better than most. Shows good understanding with the rest of the team. Great ball control and some lovely goals to go with it.
IMO our best midfielder this season so far.
Only one dip against Manure where the whole team got bullied and noone played well.

Not for me, 4th choice IMO, but he has had a few great games, the competition between him and Szob has brought the best out of both and it is allowing both them to get a rest by alternating

I think we could rotate between Mac and Jones. But both Grav and Szoboszlai are irreplaceable now.

Most of our poor matches this season occurred when Szoboszlai wasn’t in the squad (vs. Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham). His pressing is vital to our midfield and Trent :smiling_face_with_tear:

You mean when he played the full game?

Personally I’d like to see Endo alongside Jones or Gravenberch with Mac in the 10 role when we play the ā€˜lesser’ teams that put up a block. I think Endo and Mac would combine well opening up the opposition. Of course the manager knows better than me even so I feel hĆ© is starting to have a bit of a dilemma. Particularly as Big Dom and Mac are improving.

I think we should keep Mac where he is, not too deep and not too high. He’s exactly the type of midfielder to be bang where the action is going on, involved in all phases of the game. He also said recently that’s his favourite zone. Certainly has a good nous for getting forward from deep.

Any update on how Curtis injury is?

It was from the incident in the Lille game. The fact he went on until half time in that game suggests it wasnt bad and so Slot is hopefull he’ll be available for PSV

Yeah Slot suggested perhaps PSV or Bournemouth.

Credit for him stepping him at RB tonight. Konate and Virgil both had a tough night against Beto (bloody hell, he’s like this age’s Kevin Davies), but Curtis had that one key interception near the end in our box. Vital moment.

I thought he did really well. Caught wrong side on one occasion in the first half, but otherwise solid. Not sure how he feels about it, but if he could learn that position it could be very useful, especially as Bradley is still developing.

For someone stepping in he did very well to be fair and didn’t really notice him much which is usually a good sign for a right back.

First he did a job there was under Klopp in a League Cup game. Don’t think it will anything long term, but it’s positive to have in emergency. Who would’ve said a few years ago when he was a young player that he’d be pressing really well and doing a job at RB if needed.

What I loved about him today in that role was his calmness on the ball, he got it under control and helped us dictate the tempo

I thought he did a bang up job filling in at RB.

My 1 critisism of his performance last night was his lack of link up play with Mo. They were trying to link up, but at times looked like they had no clue what the other was doing.
