Trouble in the camp. Don’t like Tsimikas throwing the armband down. All sounds rather petulant.
Iraola has some work to do with these primadonnas.
I don´t see the point of these articles (obviously clickbait, but otherwise).
They don´t know what the players were arguing about or what was said. Could have been anything.
Not knowing every detail of a situation doesn’t mean we know nothing. There is plenty of footage that shows quite clearly he’s pissed off at not getting the arm band when Dom went off. Lots of blow ups between players are not worth commenting on other than to say “it happens and its fine.” This is petty enough that it clearly indicated something not being good with the player and so seems pretty news worthy
Not really without knowing what they said.
Maybe Tsimi said shut up you curled haired prick. Maybe Curtis said Greek food is shit.
Just all pointless speculation. I know fans and especially the media love to overreact to things like this though.
This just isnt a reasonable way to engage with the world. Not knowing 100% of the details of a situation doesnt mean that every scenario that can be thought of is equally valid.
You can clearly see a very agitated Jones walking towards to Dom and gave him shit about not getting the arm band and being angry enough about it that he wouldnt let it drop and turned it into something decidedly weird.
That´s totally illogical. If you don´t know what was said, it´s totally unreasonable to be so convinced that either party was in the wrong or how significant the issue is.
Funnily enough Jones has just said it wasn´t really about the armband.
I feel kinda vindicated. Not going to lie…
This is a theme of your posts. There is never enough evidence to support the things you don’t want to believe, and absolutely zero evidence is required to support theories you’d prefer. Because to you if we don’t know 100% we know nothing and therefore everything is equally likely.
Of course you do ![]()
The irony of you saying that I continue to believe as I want regardless of evidence, as Jones literally just said it´s not only the armband is quite amusing.
Surely you can see the irony?
You also like trying to dictate what is reasonable as if you´re the guardian of it. Also taking it to extremites and a straw man. I never said anything about 100% or things being equally likely. And you know it.
I was not quoiting you. I was characterizing you.
Jones acted poorly. He is now saying the fight was about something else than the thing he was very demonstrably being pissy about. Even if you give him the benefit of doubt in accepting that there was something more substantial that it was about it doesnt make it any better of a situation.
If Jones is upset at not been made team captain for the remaining 15 mins of a pre-season friendly match, then he’s just proving he isnt fit to be captain,
A real Captain of the team, wouldnt be upset like that, he’d just shrug his shoulders and get on with it…
Based on something totally different to what I said on this topic. Evidence eh
Doesnt seem a very good characterisation
All very petty though, ironically.
You’re an old fella Rambler. So am I. Just out of curiosity what do you think of this current group of players?
I go back to the early '70’s, I know you go back a bit further.
I cannot remember a squad of players I cared less about. There are a small handful I would be sorry to see leave, the rest of them I couldn’t give a fuck about if they went tomorrow.
I thought maybe it’s an age thing, I’ve defo lost a bit of the passion of youth, but I felt completely differently under Klopp and that wasn’t that long ago.
I should be feeling the excitement of a new season coming on but tbh I don’t give a shite, apart from Tsimi, Jo Gomez, Endo, Chiesa, Harvey and Ekiteke (a strange mix) I don’t really like any of them due to either their footballing ability or personality. Sad really.
Its an age thing and a social media thing.
The players were cunts back in your day too, you just didn’t get exposed to it as much.
Not knowing what was said, but making an assumption because all the body language indicators were that he was upset at not getting the captains armband.
This is inidicative of a generation which commonly displays entitlement, high demands and expectations for things not necessarily earned, made worse by rewards for failure being dished out from a very early age.
An interesting take and probably some truth in it.
But as I said, things were completely different under Klopp and that was only a few years ago. There were players who were around then and still are but for whatever reason they’ve become unlikeable in some way.
I feel the same. Besides the magic of the Klopp era, football in general has lost it’s identity for me. I missed the days of fierce rivalry, club loyalties, crunching tackles, shooting from outside the box etc. Football was for the fans, now it’s all about money, money, money, simulation, complaining to the ref, fashion and haircuts.
Klopp was an expert at keeping that shit behind closed doors but sometimes things slipped out. Salah and Mane for example were bickering a lot with Mane feeling like Salah got all the adulation that he wanted for himself. Henderson was a bit of a selfish bitch at times too, especially towards the end. I just think Klopp had such an aura that he was able to cover it up effectively.
I know it annoys some to mention it but Slot for me was not a good manager. He may have known tactics and had the technical aspects of running a session down but he was terrible with people. I think a few things started getting through that Klopp would have been on top of.
Biggest part of Iraola’s challenge ism’t to improve the quality of this team - we have that in abundance - it will be to refocus this team on what is important.
In times gone by, I’ve spent ridiculous sums of money and invested ridiculous amounts of time just to go & watch and support our team.
Now though, obviously I want us to win, and will watch our games on TV.
But, I dont arrange my life around our TV schedule and if/when we lose, I’m over it with a shoulder shrug in about 2 seconds.
The enjoyment and enthusiasm I once had has been sucked out of me by in no specific order…
