The ban is suspended.
Funny you said that…
What’s even the point then.
I think it recognises that the new regime brought this to the attention of the league voluntarily, as they discovered it while doing diligence prior to the sale. The league would never have known if Chelsea hadn’t raised it.
Yeah it kind of makes sense, but also reinforces how troubling the terms of the sale was and how much needed to be swept away and ignored to facilitate it. There was an enormous debt owed to Roman that Chelsea’s status as a powerhouse club was premised on. But if you make a new buyer responsible for taking that on no one would go near it so all those financial wrong doings just got swept under the rug. This latest one is small potatoes in comparison to the wiping of the debt.
FUCK off discotbot
Still no point.
Paves the way for the 115 charges. Cheat in the past…fine…just dont do it again.
Wiping all that debt and allowing them to basically start from scratch with all the accumulated assets from the Abrsmovich era remains to me one of the biggest injustices in football.
Not really. I don’t think the two are at all comparable.
Without being across all the specific details of the various breaches by different clubs, some are fined and others lose points.
Chelsea supporters will be giggling, Everton supporters and others outraged.
Both clubs cheated. One has had a slap on the wrist. I suspect the other will too.
I don’t have the faith in the PL and money men to do anything different.
It really isn’t the same.
Chelsea
Historic cheating under Abramovic regime, uncovered by new owners while doing their diligence when buying the club. Passed on by the new owners voluntarily, who fully cooperated in the process.
Man City
Historic cheating by the current regime, which was only uncovered through investigative journalism, and has been, and continues to be, obfuscated by the club. Owners have gone out of their way to be uncooperative, threatening, demonstrative and show zero contrition.
I didnt say its the same…i just said they both cheated.
Youre right…different circumstances at play…but its not going to make a difference imo.
Yeah, different circumstances, same outcome. Apart that Chelsea have been dealt with, while we’ll never see any outcome on the Cheaty case, at least in our lifetime.
I do think City are going to get the biggest punishment ever handed out. The question is whether it will be enough.
A small fine but allowing Chelsea keeping the trophies is just a tiny slap on the hand. It’s just meaningless.
Taking the trophies away doesn’t really change anything either. The celebration still happened. The missing celebrations of the team that lost out wont ever happen.

The punishment nowhere near fits the crime. I don’t care that the breaches occurred under another regime, it’s not relevant. The minimum should have been a significant points deduction or even relegation and an immediate transfer ban. They made illegal payments to secure signings, let’s call it what it is, bribery. Chelsea are laughing at the pathetic punishment handed down.
