Darwin Nunez (CF/LW) to Al Hilal/Atletico/Napoli

Errr… except we are not short number-wise. We just might not sell Nunez. In fact we have lots of precendence going into a season with less than ideal cover if we don’t find the ideal player at the right price. Plenty of precedence.

Plus, your note on paying is completely wrong. If they ask for a significant portion like £50M upfront, we will be paying that. The amortization just affects P&L and PSR rules.

If he’s having 15 G+A over the course of next season assuming he stays with us.Then yep , probably.

It’s still below what a CF should produce. But it’s a start. I don’t have too many expectations from Nunez but if he stays , the above metric should be the bare minimum.

Nope. Transfer deals are structured differently. There’s fixed and add ons. Unless if we are talking about fees with release clauses (wherein clubs can then negotiate with either the selling club or a third party to structure the deal accordingly).

Some release clauses require payment in full. But in most cases , the clubs are willing to accept a fee slightly more than the release clause to ensure that the payment is structured to installments.

We’ve triggered the release clause for someone like Soboszlai, but that never meant we paid the entire amount in one go. We either talk with the club or an external financier to keep the payments on a 5 year payment.

If we agreed to pay 50M upfront, we have to pay 50M of the 75M upfront. I understand that we try to stagger it and in many cases we do but the point was that it has nothing to do with ammortization.

Deleted.

Is he Samson in reverse?

I think it’s to the credit of the coaching and analyst team that they discovered that shaving his head will be key to his improvement in form.

Maybe without so much loft insulation on his noggin the brain doesn’t overheat in front of goal. Imagine if he ended up staying and actually being good - forget throw in or set piece coaches, we need a club barber on the bench :man_getting_haircut:

Its his brother, Damhamsom.

Makes him more aerodynamic… but questionable if that’s even good for him and us.

Might end up in more offsides.

:joy:

Just to add context Al Hilal are asking about him, Simone Inzaghi the current coach wants him.

Ok from my internal translation, it says that the Saudi club is interested in Nunez now because he has cut his hair. They were previously wary of a man with long hair.

I’ll just be happy to volunteer.

Just give me a shearing machine.

I semi-joked about it in the Isak thread that the Saudis may give us a load of cash for Nunez and Diaz, and we’ll return it via Newcastle for Isak to help them out with PSR issues.

Depends on whether Nunez wants the move.
