Darwin Nunez (CF/LW) to Al Hilal

The rumours have persisted for a long time that he’ll move on this summer. Joyce now citing interest from Saudi. Some Spanish sources have linked him to Atleti

Very entertaining player. Definitely worth watching, probably moreso when our results are not dependent on what he does. Time to cash in if poss, take the Saudi money and run would be my idea, but he might prefer to test himself in Spain for Atleti

Well, De Bruyne has gone and Foden has been disappointing, so there is an opening.

Oh good, two threads to chat about why a player in his prime and at a top club might choose to move to Saudi Arabia :joy:

In all honesty, Nunez is one player allegedly in his prime who I wouldn’t mind leaving for Saudi Arabia. For 80 million pounds, hopefully.

Would Paul Joyce say “heavy” or “heavily?”

“Liverpool are planning to spend heavy this window” does not sound like a trained journalist to me.

Literal quote taken from the article: “Liverpool are planning to spend heavily in the transfer market this summer with negotiations ongoing for a club-record deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, while a £30million agreement for his team-mate Jeremie Frimpong is close to being announced.”

“Heavily” sounds like a Times man.

“Spend heavy” sounds like it was written by a 20 year old.

Fucking neoliberalism

That’s harsh. I hope he goes to anywhere but that shithole :saudi_arabia:.

Genuinely, am I the only one who finds the whole Saudi sportwashing scheme so disgustingly distasteful to not want to have any dealings with them?

Always underwhelmed by ‘pep’; if he goes to cheaty that confirms he’s a wrong un

Sadly, ethics don’t appear to matter where money is involved.

BREAKING: Al Hilal improve their bid to Napoli and Victor Osimhen to get deal done. Negotiations underway to try reach an agreement as Galatasaray have also been trying to advance in 24h. Final decision to be made soon for Nigerian striker.

Damn it, that money should’ve been at L4.

Nigerian journo, very close with Osimhen

Looks like Al Hilal will still be in the market for a forward

What a wild head that Osimhen fella is.

Really needs a home after Napoli where he can settle for a few years.

:joy:

I think this ultimately will be how most of the transfers play out.

The CWC has to be bigger than the CL to change the dynamic somewhat, I still think it will be players who have lost their way or are close to being over the hill the former will probably end up back in Europe anyhow within a year.

Like Jota at Celtic went for a year then went back to Europe and ultimately back to Celtic.

Plenty of clubs would probably want a Nunez just not the current version.
