I have no idea who they are and what the connection is, happens. That’s all.
I didn’t expect you to on either count. You’d think the people posting them would though
Any Secretary (and indeed Asst. Sec.) is subject to Senate confirmation. That will be an interesting test of just how disruptive the Senate GOP intend to be.
But the specific problem with Warren is that she is a Senator for Massachusetts. The Governor is a Republican, and he would have the right to appoint someone to serve the first 160 days of the term. Now, Baker is a long way from the national Republican Party, so that doesn’t guarantee he would appoint a Republican. It is also possible that the Mass. legislature would obstruct an appointment they don’t like, by passing limiting legislation.
Romney said something like “we don’t have any choice but to cooperate” on CNN
As senator is Warren gets cabinet post???
His entire cabinet has to be approved by the senate, which is about 20 positions, but in most those cases you can go about 20 positions deep on roles that also need confirmation. Traditionally, the senate would only fail to approve if the person was unqualified or had issues with their paperwork. As with many things in our politics, that has changed and so we now we’ve seen this become a far more attritional process in terms of confirmation. We’ve also seen Trump ignore the process and not even put many of his people up for confirmation and instead let them act in an acting capacity.
The older woman being Rita O’Hare? I’m sure it was posted completely innocently without comment and a subsequent refusal to explain.
OK I get now, the connection is that Biden is Irish and the importance of the GFA. And that we should give peace a chance. Right?
Maybe we should just leave it instead of trying to resurrect old feuds from TIA.
Out of nowhere, let’s post pics of former IRA members and refuse to provide comment? Righto
OK but that’s a good thing tbf, no need to see everything so negative. This thread is rather a hopeful one imo.
I was working off posts just prior to the pic and thought maybe someone was trying to be funny. In that case an explanation could have been helpful as I got the wrong end of the stick.
Sorry, are we to believe that DeVos is qualified for her post? Surely some mistake!!
It’s a geography lesson isn’t it?
Let’s just forget it. Not important, just silly. First picture was posted to provoke negative feelings about Biden from Brits since Biden meet with a former enemy, second picture was a retaliation by someone who wanted to show that also the UK Head of State would meet and deal with former foes. I am not a doctor in psychology, but that’s what I took out of it.
Like you said to me the other day concerning my passive aggressive answer , and you may have been right then, there is no reason to get that provoked over what was two silly picture posts.
Probably best to just let it lie.
No, in fact she would have to resign as a Senator, giving the Governor an opportunity to appoint a temporary replacement. My guess is that he would not go against the will of his electorate for a short-term benefit to the national GOP.
He has still not given up…
Incidentally, this comment is bang out of order.
From the news, the Kushner and other family members are trying to persuade him, but Trump is not budging at the moment. Some of the GOP party members are trying their best too.
About nine of every 10 voters said the protests over police violence were a factor in their voting, with more than three-fourths calling it a major factor, according to preliminary data from A.P. VoteCast, a large voter survey conducted for The Associated Press by NORC at the University of Chicago. About a fifth of all voters said the protests were the single most important factor in their decision at the ballot box, according to the survey, which interviewed over 140,000 respondents by phone and online.
But these voters were split deeply on who should be in the White House. Among those who cited the protests as a factor, 53 percent voted for Mr. Biden, and 46 percent for Mr. Trump, according to the survey.
So this is interesting…a hugely important and emotive issue that is split more or less down the political divide, which I suppose isn’t that interesting, however, those numbers are higher than I would have guessed if asked.
Yep, I’ve seen that even Bush has already called Biden to congratulate. At this point its simply embarrassing. Trump needs to see a doctor or something, or this won’t end well.
