Kristol may no longer be a potent political conservative force in the US, but his magazine Bulwark is growing a lot. They will continue to target the intellectual MAGA enablers after Trump (the real snakes), something of which I am grateful. Principles matters, Trumpism should have a political cost.
Not that I think Bulwark will be read by the MAGA crowd, but the conservative intellectuals, many of them do read it.
I’d like @Magnus to be seated to his right, if possible.
At which MAGA rally do you refer? Or are you talking about Carter?
Lol…
Carter! I can’t believe you of all people would imagine me at a MAGA rally!
BBC showing interviews with some of yesterday’s protesters. One of them actually likened it to 1776.
Is he right? You were around back then.
Yeah, but only as a chef.
I have a feeling Trump’s post-Presidential career will not be as well regarded, and will likely not be focused on election integrity quite the same way.
Yeah that’s the concern. Anything that Trump gets nailed for now, and boy do I think he should be absolutely ruined and made utterly insignificant, it only fuels the machine.
That ultimately doesn’t sort the problems in the problems in the US.
I have no idea about Carter’s legacy as President but my impression of him post presidency is of a thoroughly decent and caring man.
This is very true. Biden has to address those problems. I know a lot people see this as a transitional presidency, but it can’t be. He has to change things over 4 years. Otherwise, we’ll be back here again.
Having said that, I do think Trump is at least unfit and perhaps has broken laws. So the 25th or impeachment are the right options. I wasn’t there yesterday, but I am today. Enough of letting corruption and treason slide.
One potential downside to impeaching Trump is to martyrise him for the Far Right. That could lead to one of his family (probably Ivanka or Kushner) running in his stead for 2024 and having huge public support.
And Greg Norman once told me to piss off.
What’s your point?
Who hasn’t?
