Imagine in the end it will be Romney and 1 or 2 others, if that.
Predicting it now…a twice-acquitted Trump will feel unshackled like never before. He will destroy the GOP in the next decade or so. The Q position will become the default GOP position.
A vote to acquit him next month will be a vote to end their party…but maybe that is what they want, I dunno…
The only way he doesn’t run in 2024 is if he dies before then.

The republicans have rejected the chance to invoke the 25th amendment, and they’ve voted against impeachment. Fools.

The things I’ve seen from a number of political journalists is that many Republicans don’t want to “tip their hand” too early by voting for trial (which they think would be perceived as support for impeachment).
It’s arguable that people a significant number of those Republicans in Senate see themselves as candidates for President in 2024 and will want Trump out of the way.
Seems optimistic to me to think these people aren’t just c*nts.

I think Trump will avoid political conviction due to a soft Republican Senate, but his legal jeopardy will worry him. Manhattan and SDNY are closing in.
If he avoids punishment, and unfortunately his whole life has served to illustrate the point that some people are in fact above the law, he will want to go again in 2024.
The Republican Party as it has been known before these hyper-partisan times will be dead. But what of their prospects if Trump goes again?
Well, he had all the advantages of being in office last time. And he lost. By quite a margin.
He can whip up a storm all he likes among his base. They don’t have the numbers. If the Republicans tie themselves to Trump they will not win in 2024.

The question is whether enough of the US electorate are prepared to put him back in the White House knowing that there is no way of getting him out again. You will never lose betting on the stupidity of the public, but surely that’s a step too far. A lot can happen in four years as we’ve seen though.
