I kinda get te impression you won`t be contributing to his fundraiser.
He can shove it up his arse.
He spoke shit and got called out, he can pay the fine - fuck him.
So despite his filing for bankrupcy, his business apparently were turning over £800K per day in 2018. I think he should be able to be close to affording it.

That’s an interesting judgment. Finally, these people who poison other peoples’ lives with their fake news and lies (and get rich with it) start to get called out. It’s no less than what this cunt deserves. Hopefully he’ll get bankrupt and forced to end his mean activities for good.
I hope the same happens to many others who still misuse internet to propagate their obnoxious shite.

In effect, it still might. Civil cases have 2 types of damages. These are the Compensatory damages designed to pay for the suffering the victim. On top of that there are separate awards given for Punitive damages, which are designed to be dissuasive to others doing the same thing. They are generally orders of magnitude higher…

Not a lawyer, but I’d imagine not.
Also relevant is this case isn’t one and done. This is merely one of the cases he is facing. He’s already lost a similar case in Texas, and this case in CT only covered about 25% of the remaining people bringing the same case against him.

This also indicates that while he is unlikely to ever be able to pay it, he’s not going to be able to get away with not being hurt by his requirements to pay what he is able

I know he’s rich, but I don’t think anywhere near billionaire class.
Still, I would fully expect in the hundreds of millions.
He has been systematically trying to hide and protect his wealth through various shell companies and so on, so my hope is that whoever enforces the judgment has some real professionalism, and legal teeth, to be able to unravel his structures and take all the money he has to give to the SH families.

And as @Limiescouse says, that the punitive part acts as a deterrent to others who might do this sort of thing.
There’s a real poison that exists in the American discourse, and plenty of people have a mistaken view over what the first Amendment free speech right protects.
To the degree this case helps inform and reset that, then good.
First and foremost, strip Jones of all his wealth. Then if he’s short, his future earnings come into play too. Pay the money to SH families.
Second, ideally he loses his platform, as there should be no space in the public discourse for this sort of thing.
Third, hopefully it serves as a deterrent for others.

Yglesias is a borderline troll, but this is an example of a broken clock being right twice a day - a take on the incoherence of the right wing complaints about crime and its causes. Despite the rhetoric, almost no where actually meaningfully defunded their police, increases occurred locally as much or more in red controlled parts of the country, and the rise in crime occurred under a GOP president with GOP control of the Senate.

Probably could go in the Social Media thread, but the fact one part seems to be leaning on this sort of nonsense as their primary issue makes it probably more appropriate for here.
In short:
The myth - the world is trying so hard to convince your kid that being cis-straight-white is wrong that they even have schools using litter boxes to accommodate kids who identify as cats.
The reality - not one actual example of this exists, but some schools have acknowledged that they supply classrooms with cat litter as a way of managing being locked down in an active shooter episodes.
I’ve tried to explain this to my sister-in-law who has a few weird ideas about vaccines etc. If you type in “Vaccines cause autism” into google and then scroll down to the first result that appears to agree then that is not research and probably isn’t a good source of information.
All thanks to those fruitcakes on the right who think ‘freedom’ to bear arms should be sacrosanct. But again its not unlike the same rightwing fruitcakes to fabricate and propagate these stories to try to discredit the education system and pull down the fabric of society. They really are a cancer on the human race.
