Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Let’s hope.

Has anyone here charged a twat?

Asking for a friend.

The problem with this country is that the Democrats sexualise children.

… Says man who wants to fuck 12 year olds.

Might be the wrong forum. Have you tried bdsmlr.com

Men who marry 12 year old girls are well known for their support of female autonomy and arent in any way holding their child brides effectively hostage in a marriage they didnt consent to.

My understanding of this is its a procedural motion to protect the investigation rather than what the headline might otherwise imply.

Importantly, he is including one of his former front line prosecutors who exited the team in a high profile protest for not moving ahead with the indictment Bragg has now brought. That guy has since been shown up a little as not being the principled man out for justice his public resignation was originally interpreted as, and so now no one is really sure what his motivations really are. But he has continued to speak publicly about his time in the investigation in ways Bragg has asked him not to and prosecutors say form prosecutors really shouldnt about cases that are ongoing, so this seems mostly an effort to prevent him going on the congressional record in a way that would damage the case.

Does there come a point when Jordan is in danger of making himself the subject of an investigation/prosecution for perverting the course of justice (the legal lingo used in the UK , I’m not sure what the US equivalent is) or would that that be considered a step too far , even for a DA who has just indicted a former President ?

Technically yes, but the speech and debate clause is interpreted very broadly that makes even clear obstruction of justice a minefield to try to navigate. Nixon was far more right than most want to admit when he said that if a president did it then it isnt illegal, as this applies meaningfully to members of congress as well if they can argue in anyway they were just doing their congressional duties.

But were it say to rise to the level of witness tampering or intimidation , as this thing seems to be heading in that direction , do you think Bragg would go all in and charge ?

Obviously not an expert, but I think it would be considered a fools errand to try.

It’s a different case, but it’s worth recognizing that last week Pence just won his case in relation to Jack Smith’s investigation that even further expanded the protection the clause grants. It was still a win of sorts of Smith because the protections granted were not at the heart of Smith was trying to get from Pence, but it is an illustration of how difficult it would be to get any of these people on charges that stick when they can claim they are acting from their position in congress.

I’m straying a bit here , but with you mentioning the Special Counsel , do you know if Jordan has given evidence or is likely to be subpoeaned ? I’m remembering back to the Jan 6 committee and his refusal to appear to answer questions about numerous phone calls (originally denied by Jordan) that he had with Trump on that day , and indeed the likely pivotal role he played along with Meadows in the whole stolen election conspiracy.

Honestly no idea. Im pretty sure he could force him to if he wanted to and felt it was important, but every fight like that he takes on slows down his timeline, which Im sure he’s conscious of.

We’re seemingly starting to see some movement in the classified documents portion of his investigation, as it was reported the Gang of 8 have now been briefed on the details of the investigation. It has been assumed that would be put off until all the witness they needed had been interviewed by the Grand Jury so that the implications of McCarthy and Rubio informing their cronies of what Smith has on them would be negated. How tightly connected that is to the Jan 6 portion where Jordan is probably more implicated is not clear to me as they seem different cases, but the fact Smith is responsible for both suggest maybe they arent completely separate.

everything about that is creepy AF.

After signing a 15 week abortion ban last year, the type the galaxy brain centrists argue is the sensible middle despite being far stricter than comparable limits in other countries, last night De Santis signed a bill for a 6 week ban.

It really feels like the GOP are getting so far ahead of their skis that Trump is going to end up running as a moderating force, stealing that lane from the Dems and then if he gets in again completely cowtoing the extreme social conservative forces in his party

Randy Fine is one the Florida state legislators who has donet he most to attack drag shows, ostensibly as a way to protect the morality of children and save them sexualization (these things do not follow, but ignore that for now).

This is also Randy Fine

Overseeing a charity event for children with a night of sultry performance of women parading in sexy lingerie. The event does not exclude children and there is evidence of children being in attendance at previous years’ events.

We need guns to make us safer

But if you have a gun you are a threat to my safety and so I can kill you and walk away legally free

And again. Just ban the things and to hell with the constitution. Might start another civil war but it’s getting to the point where less will die long term.

Sometimes you dont need to have a gun for me to feel justified in killing you to protect myself. Sometimes you just need to be black

In yet another excerpt on the book of how the party obsessed with their opponents sexualizing children are actually themselves predators…

Obama’s DHS produced a report claiming that white supremacy was the biggest threat risk to the US and that US law enforcement had a serious issue with the degree to which those sentiments ran through it. The administration walked away from the report not because of methodological flaws, or demonstrations of bias in their interpretation, because the GOP were upset by it and thought it was rude to call them and their people racist.
