Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Yes, it is. He is doing it because Trump has demanded something terrible from him, that he is not prepared to do. However, on the bright side, I doubt that another interim Sec Def. will put his head into the guillotine and do something awful either. On this, I am pretty positive for once.

Edit: Arminius makes good points however, let us hope he is right and that it is that simple.

Nah, I thought about that for a bit, I don’t think so. I suspect he wants to be fired. Might be a good career move to salvage reputation, even at the latest possible hour. He has the base name file, with changes about to happen. If he goes ahead, Trump rages and fires him, and years of being a toady get wiped away.

I don’t think he writes his tweets himself, he’ll have someone to take care of it.

This is also a good take. You may indeed be right. Still, one cannot know.

Such a gaffe is nothing though. It is 100% inconsequential.

Trump lead in PA falling fast and now down to 90k.

Nevada has a further 190k votes to count from Clark County, which is heavily Democrat.

Good. The more they attack the GOP establishment, greater the chance of those pathetic unprincipled cravens turning on them, which will make this interregnum period much smoother.

That is what I tried to suggest above. Along with Fox, I think Trump is burning bridges.

Fair point. But only time will tell, I don’t think you can get rid of Trump’s cult following in just a couple of years. Nor should Republicans be allowed to divorce from Trump, they made their bed and slept in it every day since 2016.

A new, actually conservative party, needs to be built by those who remained principled conservatives under Trump. The GOP is corrupt. Latter paragraf very much my opinion though.

I am actually more puzzled about what Fox is doing than the GOP leadership. Trump is a pain in the ass for DC Republicans of every stripe, but he has been box office for Fox.

Hasn’t he threatened to set up his own News channel?

I imagine they see him as yesterday’s news and can get more ratings from seeing him blow up as he leaves the WH. They have probably lost any influence they had with him before.

I imagine it would be a Trump-Covid joint ticket.

This is also why margins matters. If you win by enough, no one can successfully contest anything. Thankfully, Biden will win by enough to make the GOP establishment unwilling to do something unconstitutional. But their followers may do something extremely unwise. I still think there will be violence.

Lol, the campaign that wants to stop the count are worried about a few votes. Such desperation. Right now, I am enjoying this.

Just thought I would place in here what the twitter bots are saying

Amusing. Very amusing. So many Americans are credulous though.
For what it is worth, I don’t think most of them are bots. I think they are posting a script that they have been persuaded to post. Concerning bots, I think those are much rarer than what most people maybe think. For instance Qanon has such scripts, users mass post them and etc.

David for instance, his profile doesn’t seem like a bot. The other guy could certainly be one though, but I think it is just a stupid Trumpist behind it.

You know like in the West Wing TV Show when the new President asks his Republican opponent to become his new Foreign Secretary - Projecting a show of unity for the country.- Perhaps it would be a good idea if Biden asked Trump to be his new Foreign Secretary? - That may just unite the country during very difficult times. And of course Trump has the experience in foreign relations.

I am just going to dump that there and walk away
