That is a strange series of tweets from tapper, but it encapsulates the Trump era perfectly. I get they are not his words, but he still owns them by presenting them with no context, colour or narrative of his own.
Trump spent at least the last half of 2016 complaining about election fraud and convincing his people that the only way he could lose was from fraud. He surprised himself and won, and still spend the next 3 years prosecuting a voter fraud in an election HE FUCKING WON. And he only really stopped so he can start to ramp up complaints about this one being rigged.
To act like he and the people around him are NOW causing damage to the perceptions of the integrity of the election is laughable. But this has been the trump era. He does something awful, people clutch their pearls and ask “can you believe he did this?” and the only reasonable answer is “yes. He’s done it repeatedly even before now.”
