We cannot be in conflict with everyone at the same time - the same could arguably be said of the need to mend fences with India. But if the US is no longer a trusted partner, why is it ok that Cisco passes any information to NSA on demand, but Huawei passing any information to Chinese intelligence is out of bounds? Doesnā€™t make a lot of sense.

Isnā€™t the whole point of a forum for people to share and discuss their opinions?

Itā€™s for people to express their opinions, and slag off everyone elseā€™s.

Bernie never got the Dem party nomination because he has never had enough support from the party members of a party he wont officially join. The continued insistence that he was taken down by them is IMO more damaging to the supposed shared objectives than anything ā€œthe demsā€ actually did to him

The Secret Service is presidential security, isnā€™t it? If I was in his position, I wouldnā€™t want a grace and favour appointment. Iā€™d want some hardened agent with 30+ years experience.

Then again, he already looks like he could be taken out by a strategically placed pork scratching.

I doubt heā€™d have had their support even if he officially joined. I donā€™t think many in the party share Bernieā€™s objectives and thatā€™s the damaging part.

Agreed. That part is not essential to the point, which is they he never had enough from the primary voters. The ā€œdemsā€ didnt have to do anything to stop him winning.

I heard him on the radio today talking about TikTok. He sounds old AF.

I completely agree with this. America has put all its eggs into the military basket and for the foreseeable future that wonā€™t be the ground on which it falls.

However, economicallyā€¦ yep, itā€™s coming. And having the US dollar as the worldā€™s reserve currency is not a given as it once was.

I felt the Bern and was gutted he didnā€™t prevail. He had young people mobilized by the millions and he would have won, and the country would be a very different place today.

The point is not that the Chinese are not vicious bastards, it is the fact that we have to get out of their crosshairs if we are going to be in the crosshairs of the Americans. Sure, the Chinese are interfering in our domestic politicsā€¦and the Americans are doing what exactly?

Not in my experienceā€¦

How exactly do you get out of the crosshairs of China, exactly? We have already sold off half the country to them FFS.

Havenā€™t had a PM with a brass pair in how long, now?

There are several posters, @redalways and @Mascot to name but two, who engage and debate with those who hold opposing viewpoints.

Personally, I donā€™t bother because I learnt a long time ago that banging oneā€™s head against a brick well is an act of self-harm.

Or perhaps in some cases (read: me) the damage has already been done which is why the brainless behaviour persistsā€¦

Honestly, giving up on doing so myself. The amount of disingenuous bullshit being flung around, ā€œIā€™m not a conservative butā€¦ā€, and just straight-up ignoring of facts is too much.
