I have moved to paradise, away from the madness that is the DMV. Unfortunately, it is 30 degrees in paradise this morning, and I am about to join in the MLK day march here.

When I was a college freshman, my philosophy professor invited me to his home for dinner. Joan Baez was attending and I worshipped her. After much deliberation, I declined because I had to study for a calculus exam (didn’t help). I have never forgiven myself. Years later, my daughter called me as a high school frosh and asked if she could walk out of class for a march in 2016. I said of course as long as you know what you’re marching for. She came home bubbling with excitement and told me Joan Baez led the march. 
If she shows up at your march, I am going to be pretty upset and no one wants that.

So we are inaugerating someone today who has pledged to do everything he can to damage and demolish democracy in this country - yet its all just so normal. Former presidents there smiling, shaking hands etc.
Just a nonsense. Non of these people care.

I think that is an unfair comment on the former Presidents. They are prioritizing a return to normality for the peaceful handover of power in transition, which is understandable after the events of four years ago.
There is not much they can do in terms of democratic legitimacy. The American people chose the sequence of events that is about to unfold, whatever it turns out to be.
