Really think some âleft fieldâ thinking is required here so that Trump is neutralised well before the vote.
Just not sure it is required.
If he is elected it is a failure of what a democratic country should aspire to and also clearly of everyone who is not a Trumpist - including the Democratic Party.

Agreed but that cost is so great and the risk so real that such thoughts are surely entertained (if not acted upon) by some with the capacity.
Have to let it play out I guess. I think if he is elected then, yes it will be a nightmare, but no it will not be the end of the world. The worst thing would be that he is seen as some sort of a martyr, he is just a greedy pig growing fat on people false hopes.
I have some sympathy as a Trump Presidency would be disastrous, but the problem is that half of the country here feels the same about the Biden Presidency. So where does it end?
I honestly donât know what the answer is, as the country is so polarized, and political leaders generally act in such bad faith. The election cycle seems constant, with the sole purpose of beating the other guy.
Governing well, and actually doing something good for the country, doesnât even seem to factor into it.
I think this tenure has been the death knell for the common lefty idea that the best way to be a successful president is to do good things for people. Iâm not saying there are not things to criticize the Biden Presidency for, but that the things he gets grief for in the press and in the general vibe of the country are at odds with what they have actually done and the material conditions he has overseen.
The press were always ill equipped and maybe even disinterested in calibrating their coverage to what is actually happening (see the satire from the Tweets of the NYC account - âStock Market hits record highâŚwhy that is that is bad for Bidenâ), and the increasingly fractured information space is exacerbating that.

So Congress just passed a clause in the defence spending bill that really has no purpose other than to protect NATO from Trump if he is elected - withdrawal will require a 2/3rds majority in the Senate, or an Act of Congress. Most Republicans voted for it.
