This is indescribably stupid. This is not only already how the government-industry pipeline works, but is something MAGA claim to hate

It is indescribably damning that the fan club donā€™t spot the irony though. Youā€™ve got to smirk almost.

Arenā€™t there laws that prevent private citizens from conducting foreign policy? Iā€™m not sure if Logan Act - Wikipedia applies here.

Dunning-Krueger.

Is it also gallows humour to wonder how different a world it would have been if Ramaswamy and Musk were women, so they would have been thoroughly unlikely to have received the funding that they did to begin with?

thats because they are deplorable.

One question to those who know about it: what if Trump gets a shot through his head before January 20, or dies from or a heart attack, a cerebrovascular accident, from whatever? Would then Vance become president, or would there be new elections?

Yes, we have stopped caring about those sort of things though. This was kind of what got Flynn in trouble in their previous transition. If you remember though, the thing that made his position untenable was not the illegal unofficial communications about foreign policy with the Russians, but lying to Pence about it.

You vote for the ticket. That is what the VP is there for.

They do spot itā€¦ they just donā€™t care. They never did. It was only ever about power so they will do or say anything to get it.

ā€œNever believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.ā€ - Sartre

Replace ā€œanti-semiteā€ with ā€œTrumpistā€ and it perfectly described them.

Biotech stocks, especially pharma, tanked yesterday in response to the Kennedy news. I had conversations with several people involved in hiring that plans have immediately been put on hold until they get a better sense of the landscape.

Great work everyone.

EDIT: Oooffff, I just heard of the first mass layoff as well.

News Anchor: He was investigated as a sex offender and now it looks like the report into that will be buried. How does that factor into your thoughts about him being confirmed?

Elected Republican: He will make the libs cry. Its great.

Ok, so even if Trump never gets in charge, heā€™ll be replaced by the VP. Perfect, thanks. :+1:

I find this to be ultimately ironic. Trump ran on a brand logo of Make America Great Again whilst systematically destroying it. As the appointments happen, the penny is dropping that he is indeed a raving lunatic, appointing those that are loyal to him exclusively.

Its a coup dā€™etat, one that most Americanā€™s gave the green light to. Its a weak bunch of democrats that didnā€™t prepare for this. Obama, Pelosi and those other senior politicians that didnā€™t think to prepare and got lazy on their watch. Its a stupidly greedy Grand Old Party who allowed this to happen because we can win with him and get back in for another term. Only thing is Trump really isnā€™t Republican, heā€™s MAGA and an enemy to democracy. But everyone is out to make a bit of cash and feather their nest and Trump is going to blow the world up.

Russia basically has the play book to move into Poland, Finland or anywhere they want and test a very weakened NATO so approximate to World War II where Hitler started making moves and only when it got too much to bear did England act. I donā€™t think this time good old Blighty has enough pots and pans to throw at Russia.

The constitution is less specifically clear on what would happen if it were to happen before the electoral college meets in mid Dec, and so there is theoretically some wiggle room for some in the EC to vote for someone else, but it is obviously untested grounds and there isnt any reason for any of them to cast the votes for anyone other than Trump/Pence

It already feels like the press is failing. I have seen so many people share this as if to say ā€œsee, they are both the sameā€

  • 2008 Kennedy is not 2024 Kennedy
  • He was actually a well regarded environmental lawyer with expertise completely aligned with the mission of the EPA. That does not remotely describe his fit for HHS.
  • He didnt nominate him, and other than unattributed reports like this there was no public evidence he was a serious consideration.

FUCKING STOP IT.

This was reported on before the election, but now appears to be reality

As President Trump has the ability grant clearance to people even who fail the background check. But the point is that we get some indication that someone failed a background check when it is done through official channels and the results are considered to matter. That outcome creates obstacles to that person doing the job. Especially when there is senate confirmation required.

All this is doing is allowing someone to get into position without their points of exposure being identified to the public.

Remember when Trump won an election because people were concerned that the other personā€™s email policy was a national security risk
